ETV Classics

After doing this for almost five years (the time flies!) everyone at ETV has developed a little "crush" on certain podcasts. While we're hard at work on new stuff for 2010 as well as putting the final touches to the Emortal 2 DVD we have decided to roll out a blast from the past for your viewing enjoyment.

This first one comes from ETV Director himself Dan Napoli. It's , originally released in May 2008. The podcast features Brandon Mayo, star of the new film CK2, with his team Avalanche as they move toward a battle for the championship with fellow Ego users San Antonio X-Factor, at the 2008 NPPL Huntington Beach Open.

"It's long, almost like an actually TV show-22 minutes I think," said Napoli. "But capturing the teams first pro win is pretty cool. I love the Moving Mountains song we used in the finals. We tried to use a song and edit the finals in a way that conveyed how much emotion was sweeping over both teams."

You can view the playlist with all four parts below! Enjoy

Big Game Moscow !!

If your a fan of big games and fancy an adventure in Moscow then you should check out the Big Paintball Manoeuvers ran by APG.

Last year I took my first trip to Moscow along with Flash for the Big Paintball Manoeuvres. OMG what an event. I have been around the world and played my fair share of 'Big Games' but this one had everything they had and a lot more. It was a pretty quick lesson when I round the corner of building to be faced with a very realistic looking tank.... Took me a second to register that I was staring straight down the barrel of the tanks guns.... Yeah, that didn't work out too well for me :-)

Flash and I ran missions and battles all day long and even had the pleasure of running with a few of the Scenerio teams from Moscow. The action was none stop all day and if you wanted to get yourself involved it wasn't too hard to find a battle to get stuck into...

The battles, the tanks, the Special effects and the extremely fair and fun gameplay were brilliant... If you have never been and fancy an adventure then I’d get yourselves booked in. This is one not to miss.

Check out the Facebook pages below:

You have to check out this Promo Video as well... Gives me goose bumps every time... Love It !!!

Band Spotlight #1 The October Game

ETV video content is something I’m sure you all know about and Love... Don't You?

Well, each ETV we create has music and some of the banging tunes we include on the ETV come from unknown, emerging, fresh bands from around the world. From time to time we work a little more closely with a few bands and they become our 'Favourites'. The Band Spotlight Blogs will give you a little more info about the bands, where you can get their music, see them gigging, myspace page to look at etc.

The first band we are featuring is 'THE OCTOBER GAME'. We have features October Game music on a couple of ETV's now and we continue to work with them, Nick Kozuch from The October Game is also working closely with the design team at Planet Eclipse to write exclusive music for the technical pieces we create.

Below is the The October Game - One Sheet... (music jargon I believe)....
If you want to check out more The October Game info there MySpace Page is: with info on gigs, music releases etc...

Rivalry !!!!

Saturday, Feb. 6th was the premiere of the documentary short Rivalry, about Vicious and XSV's battle across the 2009 PSP Circuit.
Eclipse,Understood Clothing, & Disconnected Media put together a little soiree in Omaha, Nebraska. The city is home to both Vicious and Disconnected Media.

85 people-including narrator Matt Marshall, director Dan Napoli, and most of Vicious turned up for the event.

Check it out-photography provide by acclaimed photographer Christopher Dilts.

A story about the rise to the very top of the pro circuit or a poignant look at a once powerhouse team struggling to survive in today’s climate. You decide. Either way this is the best story we have ever made and a great tribute to XSV who have now sadly left the Emortal Army.

Rivalry will be part of the Emortals 2 DVD out in April 2010..... Watch this space..

SLS Specs

With the Ego10 launched late 2009 and claimed by many to be the best Ego to date, and by some margin, it would seem faintly ridiculous to presume that the new SL could improve on the platform any further.

But with application and direction the team responsible for the development of the Eclipse line of markers have managed to come up with a package that pushes the development of the Ego line ever forward.

Every previous SL has been distinguishable by its blend of swooping exterior lines and light-weight design. There is no exception here. Yes, the SLS may have eschewed some of its classic nose-to-tail features and replaced them with individual body strakes, but the concept of a cohesive design theme through the marker remain. As of course does the diminutive size and weight. At only 834g with barrel, battery and OOPS, the SLS retains its position as the lightest high-end marker available for sale.

But of course the SL has always been about more than just looks and weight. The SL is also used to showcase new and exciting technology from the Eclipse development team. And this year is no different.

The SLS has seen enhancements in three key areas:

- A new SL3 In-Line Regulator and Regulator mount
- Modification of the Cure3+ with inclusion of three different Bolt Inserts
- The introduction of full SLS-to-PC communications

The latter of those upgrades is made possible through proprietary software in the form of the E-Portal. The E-Portal is an application that provides a means of communicating with an Eclipse SLS through the familiar Windows(tm) environment and will give the user control over all aspects of the SLS firmware. It will be possible to:

- Upgrade the Electronic Firmware
From time to time Eclipse will release new versions of the firmware that controls the operation of the Eclipse SLS. This may be to add new features to the current firmware; to improve existing features; to fix bugs in the current firmware; or to accommodate changes in major league rules affecting the way that markers are allowed to operate. The latest version of firmware will be downloadable from the Planet Eclipse website and programmable into the SLS using E-Portal.

- Manage the Control Parameters
E-Portal will display all of the SLS' Control Parameters in one easy-to-read list. Parameters can be read from the SLS, modified and saved for future use. User presets can also be created for different firing mode configurations and saved for future use.

- Customise the Start-Up Splash Screen
E-Portal provides a simple way to create images that can be transferred to the Eclipse SLS in order to personalise the start-up screen. These images can be saved for future use or shared with friends and team-mates. Sample images are also available for download from the Planet Eclipse website.
Where the E-Portal offers enhanced control of the electronics, the new SL3 Regulator gives enhanced control of the pneumatics. The SL3 regulator is a completely new, from the ground up, design of In-Line regulator for Eclipse. Eclipse regulators have always been renowned for their reliability, simplicity and robustness. The SL3 obviously has all of those attributes, but now is even more accurate, has better stability when dealing with fluctuating or decaying input pressure, and has a higher flow capability. Not only that, the all-new seal configuration is now both reversible and replaceable by the user, should the main seal ever become contaminated. All of these features mean that the output of the regulator (the pressure that governs the markers velocity) is now even more tightly controlled over a far wider range of supply pressures from the tank. This means velocity remains stable right down to the last few hundred psi on the tank, giving you more usable shots per fill.

And as promised with the advent of the Cure3+ the new SLS Cure3+ comes complete with three interchangeable bolt inserts. Stock, it comes fitted with the ramped gas transfer option similar to the one seen in the Ego10. And inside the box, together with the optional trigger, optional Valve Guide and other spares, there are two further bolt inserts: A Muffler design, and a Pepper Pot design. A simple pull and twist of the bolt pin allow access to the bolt insert. Simply fit the one that suits your play the best, then pop the pin back in and get back to the field. It couldn’t be more simple.

Of course the rest of the SLS is no less feature laden, with the Zick2 Rammer kit, adjustable OOPS fitted to the T-Railed SL frame, choice of two triggers and two valve guides, adjustable LPR; custom MAC solenoid valve with modified porting and of course the 5-Piece Shaft SL2 barrel kit.

As well as the VERY limited run of about 300 SLS (Maximum will be no more than 350) there will also be an exclusive PBNation Owners Badge that you will be able to tag to your user account (Original Owner ONLY)… So you prove your right to be part of the Elite SLS Club..

Last year the UWL (Ultimate Woodsball League) came to the UK (NPF, Birmingham) for a single leg of this popular series from the USA. The UWL is a woodland tournament with a difference. 30 minutes games, 4 flags, bonuses, 10 minute re-spawns, massive fields and FUN, lot and lots of FUN!
Last year I dragged, kicking and screaming a bunch of old Banzai's and Rushers together to go and play. Some had not held a marker for 5 years. We had a blast and only narrowly missed winning the whole thing (Yes, I should have read the rules and I would have known the ammo crate I was stood next to in the final game was a bonus enough for us to win it...Doh). NPF have yet again stood up to the plate to bring the format back to the UK for 2010 (10 man this time).

4 Legs over the year and 3 different titles up for grabs.
For more info check the forum:

If you loved the woods in the past, then you will love this. If you love the woods now and fancy tournament ball then this is a great event for you. If you just fancy a cracking days balling in the woods (and probably the best woods in the country in my opinion) then this is the event to play….. Operation Sandbag will be there as part of there ‘Tour of Duty’ 2010... I hope to see some old and some news faces in the woods down at NPF....

The Fat Ladys Charms hold a Paintball Boot Camp that the cheeky girls call there BOOB Camps... (Something that I was trying to sign up for, just my cup of tea). But then I find out it's for Girls only... Girls only, I can't believe it !!! So I asked Sofia for a little more info:

Well, the FL Charms usually do our bootcamp for girls a couple of times a year. And the first one for 2010 is at the end of this month. Everyone at Planet Eclipse would like to wish Team XSV the best of luck for the future. Planet Eclipse have been proud to sponsor XSV for many years during the high and the low times. XSV have been with Planet Eclipse and the EGO Markers since day one back in 2004 and have been an important part of the development of that and other products. Many good friendships have grown out of the XSV camp and hopefully those friendships will continue into the very distant future.
Paintball is going through some turbulent times. The Paintball world is changing and Planet Eclipse is having to change with it in order to survive. XSV are also trying to survive and unfortunately that means a new partnership for XSV away from Planet Eclipse. Planet Eclipse loses one of its longest standing established teams from the Emortal Army.
The Emortal Army will mourn the loss.

? ! ? ! ?

Double IMPACT.

Something to make you laugh.... Hopefully !!

A couple of good friends of mine have been working quietly in the shadows now for a few years on all sorts of movie/film/story/comedy projects. They have only recently started working more and more closely together and rumour has it they could be the next Cohen Brothers... (remember where you heard it first). Here is something they did together a few years back which still makes me laugh, I think I’m getting to that age when a lot of these images just bring back all the great memories from years gone by.

Have a look and pass it around I’d like for them to get a few more hits on this so paste it into your facebook, MySpace, twitter, etc site and lets see if we can get the number up....

I'm starting this at only 270 Hits !!!!!

If you want to know a little more about the ‘Looker Brothers’ then check out their web site:

FHM Hottie....

Sometimes I can't help thinking to myself 'I've got a pretty sweet job'. When a copy of FHM drops on my desk and then my job for the morning is to read it. Well, it's a good day in the office :-)

This particular FHM is from South Africa.... Hardie from The Paintball Shop in South Africa ( must have had a hand in getting this in FHM... Nice work Hardie......

It's always nice to see anything Paintball in NONE-Paintball media, add in a hot lady and you have got my vote !!!

Ted -E - bear !!!

Planet Eclipse HQ is based in Manchester, North West England. Not too far up the road from Planet HQ is a magical place called Adventure Farm, that provides holidays and activities for terminally ill, chronically sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.

When each child arrives they will find a teddy bear on their bed which they take home with them at the end of the stay.
At Planet we have been collecting Teddy Bears from the staff and we have also had a Special Ted-E-Bear made for the Charity (C.A.F.T) that one lucky child will receive. It even comes with a birth certificate and everything! Obviously, we had to dress it up in camo and Eclipse Dog Tags :-) The Emortal Army Ted-E-bear is a very ‘Vicious’ Looking Panda and we thought it would be only fitting to call it after the other ‘Vicious’ cuddly Teddy Bear that we all know…. So we named the Eclipse Emortal Ted-E-Bear ‘Greg PAWley’ .. Get it… No… OK, just me then…
I’m not asking anyone to do anything, just passing on that feel good feeling you have when you know that you’re doing something nice for someone a lot less fortunate than yourself. If anyone out there wants to donate Teddies (or any donation) to the charity I’m sure they will be more than happy to take them (new/nearly new). So no sending in your one eyed, missing-a-leg teddy full of dribble and probably patient zero for swine flu!
Everyone at Planet… xx
