The Far East is a rapidly emerging force in the Paintball World and I personally have had the great pleasure of visiting the area many times and seen the sport grow and develop extensively over the last few years.

The UK’s Super6 Scenario event dates have now been launched and with only a couple of weeks away from the first event (District 10 on the 5th February 2012) things are hotting up…

And something a little special at the first event of the year (on the Saturday before the main game)… Planet Eclipse Factory team and CPPS series Champions ‘Disruption’ are giving up there time to show you some of the skills they use on the Supiar fields that can make the difference between winning and losing in the woods as well….

The Super6 series runs a program of Academy sessions at each event. One session is always classroom based and the other field based. Some are designed specifically for new players to introduce them to Big Game paintball and some are specifically designed for more experienced players to help them upskill their game. All the Super6 Academy sessions are free of charge.

At the first Super6 of 2012, District 10 at Skirmish Nottingham, the Planet Eclipse team Birmingham Disruption will be running the field based Academy session. The session will be entitled ‘Transferable Skills’ and will focus on the technical aspects of tournament play that can be transferred into the woods.

Basic skills that many tournament players have drummed into them from an early stage are often absent from Woodsball players who seldom undertake any formal training as part of their hobby. So ‘Dickie’ and ‘Pikey’ will be spending some time passing on some of those basic skills to scenario players who are interested in improving the technical aspect of their game play. Skills like tucking in, shooting left and right handed, supressing, snap shooting and how to fire effectively on the move will all feature in a program that is sure to be very popular with the attending players.

The session will begin at 2pm and sign-up details for this free Academy session will be released in the Super6/1: District 10 Player Pack which will be published on Thursday January 19th on the Super6 website (www.super6paintball.co.uk)

On January 28th and January 29th 2012 aspiring Paintball players that feel that they have got what it takes to play at the very highest professional level and become one of the X-Factor squad, will have the chance to shine in front of the X-Factor team.

X-Factor are looking to add to their already impressive roster and invite anyone that thinks they have what it takes to sign up to the weekend.

Planet Eclipse ETV will also be attending the weekend to film the event, so the camera shy need not apply.

So what’s going to happen during the weekend….

Day 1 (Saturday 28th Jan): Arrive on site by 9:00am. Players should expect to run conditioning and Paintball specific drills with simulated game situations. Cuts will be made throughout this day as we see fit. Final Saturday cuts will happen after the 1 on 1 competition. The winner of which gets a ‘free pass’ into Sunday.

Saturday Night… Everyone that has made it thought to the Sunday is expected to attend a casual dinner at a local restaurant, Chuy’s.

Day 2 (Sunday 29th Jan): Arrive on site by 9:00am. On Sunday, players can expect more of the same drills along with full game scrimmages. This will be the final chance players have to impress the X-Factor team.

Team Brute Force a regional scenario and big game paintball team based out of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut announces today that they will be officially entering their Junior year as a Planet Eclipse sponsored team.

GFOA early Intel ......

Front Line Intel about the GFOA has been captured by Planet Eclipse HQ:

We hope everyone had a safe and joyful holiday season. We are really excited about the 2012 GFOA season. New daily developments are occurring with sponsors, rules, locations and everything in general. We plan on bringing you updates every two weeks to any developments that may be happening.

Currently we know the most sought after bit of information is events dates, locations, and entry prices. At this point we can confirm two of these three bits of information. Dates are as follows: March 3, 2012. April 14, 2012. May 12, 2012. June 9, 2012. July 21, 2012. August 18, 2012. September 15, 2012. October 13, 2012. And in early November will be the Seven man Slam.

Locations: At this time we are only ready to announce the first event March 3, 2012 will be at On Target Paintball Ga. Located in Macon. The other event locations will be shared in weeks to come. We have been diligently looking at other fields, and will have our final decisions soon.

Event Pricing: The GFOA is proud to announce that with last year’s sponsorship and this year’s sponsorship there will not be any changes on the pricing. 2012 pricing will remain the same as last year at $199.00 for all three divisions.

It’s always nice to hear from players when they like are gear (we even like to know when we don’t quite get it right).. But sometimes someone goes the extra mile and writes a full review. Check this out below from Kerry “Viper” Rosenberry

My first weekend with my new Eclipse gear.......

I just thought I would put something together for those of you contemplating purchasing gear from Planet Eclipse. I recently went out for a day of recball and used my new Eclipse gear for the first time. Here are my impressions.

Eclipse HDE camo pants: As soon as you pick these up and handle them you get a sense of just how tough they are. The material looks great and feels very durable. It truly feels like protective gear designed to withstand punishment and the elements. Once you put them on your really begin to discover how well-thought-out the design is. Heavy-duty stretch material in the crotch, ventilating panels, and integrated pads in the knees and hips secured by rock-solid stitching gives you the sense that they will last forever and protect you from scrapes and bruises. Zippered on standard front pockets that are deep and solid. You feel like you could carry keys and money on the field without danger of losing them. Cargo pockets on the thighs have concealed zipper-pockets behind them as well. Throw in adjustments on the waist, a swab pocket on each calf, and cinches on eth cuffs that have little Velcro retainers for the cinch cords to keep them from flopping around and catching on things and you will be hard-pressed to find any way to improve them.

Eclipse HDE camo jersey: Everything you wouldwant and more. Good looks, heavy-duty stitching, some good ventilation, and a little extra padding to protect you from bumps and scrapes. Now here are the things you wouldn’t expect…there are four Velcro panels with Eclipse patches attached. You can pull these off and use the Velcro to attach nameplates and team patches. And now the cool part; behind each of the Velcro panels on each bicep is a hidden, zippered pocket. How cool is that?

And my Geo2.1: I could write a book! It comes in a padded, protective case that includes a full set of ball-end hex wrenches (yes, ball-end ones!) and the most extensive spares kit I have seen. Gaskets, o-rings, lube, the works. The marker itself is sleek-looking and well-balanced. The trigger has a nice feel to it. And speaking of the trigger, this alone amazed me. Sure it’s four way adjustable. Lots of those out there. But get this…like a magnetic trigger or do you refer a spring? Do you prefer an optical trigger or do you like a micro-switch? This trigger can be any of these or any combination. This alone impressed me before I fired my first ball.

The barrel on the Geo2.1 has Planet Eclipse’s popular design queues including a reverse threaded tip and a design that has the ball travelling off of a travers instead of onto one by having the back thread down into the tip instead of the other way around like many others.

I screwed on my HPA tank. The Geo2.1 features a little sliding on/off. It’s fast and simple with a great low-profile, low-drag feel and when it’s on…it’s on. You won’t find your air accidentally turned off during play.

I gassed it up, loaded some balls in the hopper, and turned it on. The user interface is simple and easy to use once you familiarize with the scrolling and double clicks. The backlit display is easy to read and fires right up. No waiting for boot times.

So I walked the trigger and fired a string of paintballs. There is almost no kick. It’s like the balls just come flowing out of the barrel. It was amazingly quiet too.

Another nice inclusion was a “Training Mode” that provides an audible for every trigger pull and disables the solenoid and the shot counter. This allows you to sit at home, tune your trigger, and practice your trigger technique without making a lot of noise of adding shots to your shot counter. A great idea in my opinion.

All in all there was nothing about the HDE soft goods, or the Geo2.1, that I didn’t find impressive, well-thought out, or well manufactured. You really get the impression that everything that Planet Eclipse produces was conceived by paintballers who knew what we needed, and that they went to great lengths to put quality above profit margins and production costs.

If your goal is to get the best quality gear I would strongly recommend that you take a good, close look at Planet Eclipse. You will be as impressed as I am, of that I have no doubt.

Over the last few months we have been debating which charityshould we donate a set of 20^th Anniversary Markers to. It’s not aneasy choice as so many people have been touched at some point in their life bysome form of tragedy or other. What is very important to one person means verylittle to the next. So we have decided to let you, the Paintball playingpublic, have your say.

From now until the end of January 2012 we will be acceptingrecommendations from you guys. This may be related to something that hasaffected you or a friend or simply something that you feel strongly about. Whatwe have decided to do is to choose one UK based charity and one USA basedcharity (due to the fact that that’s where our two main offices are located).Once all the recommendations have been submitted to info@planeteclipse.comwe will choose (in our opinion) the five most note worthy charities and putthem up on PBNation (USA Charity) and P8NTballer (UK Charity) for everyone tovote for. We will give the vote a week and at the end of the week we will haveselected two worthy winners.

So, now it’s down to you guys to give us a reason to putYOUR charity in the top five. Whichever charity wins, it will be an amazingcause I’m sure so please don’t be upset if the charity you submit doesn’t getchosen.

Some people have already been discussing the charity 20^thAnniversary markers donations and asked, "What good they would be to acharity?!"....Rest assured that we will work with the charities to makesure they get the most money they can for the marker set. With Greg’s past experience and knowledge of hosting amazing events, his main focus will be coordinating, promoting and hosting events of all types for Avid Extreme Sports in both our Oklahoma City and Plano, Texas locations. For those of you that are not familiar with Greg Pauley, he has been in the paintball industry for over 10 years, coordinated multiple paintball series and has coached a variety of successful teams at all levels.

Marc Lancia on Tour - LVP Venezuela

Marc Lancia, Planet Eclipse Sales Rep, and PJ, one of our best Planet Eclipse Techs, recently attended the final leg of the LVP Tournament Series in Venezuela. Having never been to an LVP event, the tournament gave Marc a great insight into Venezuelan Paintball. Marc was met with open arms, and looked after well, reinforcing Venezuela's hospitable nature.

"The event was a great opportunity to speak with the players and teams in order to heed how successfully Paintball has been established here, as well as to appreciate the bright future for Paintball in this country. It was great to see PJ here providing superb technical support to the players by keeping their markers running smoothly for the duration of the event. PJ also provided the players with Player Tech Classes which is a great way to pass on technical maintenance and troubleshooting skills to the players.

The LVP Tournament is probably the best-run South American Series that I have ever attended - You couldn't ask for a smoother event. Viper TC, the tournament organisers and local Eclipse Distributor, brought in three professional PSP Referees to train the LVP reffs as well as to help adjudicate during the event, thus giving extra confidence to the players that accurate and correct refereeing was being practised. Another feature was the punctual nature of the event. In the past I have been to events where the games didn't commence until 11am and didn't finish until 7pm at night! That was certainly not the case at the LVP - The games started at 7am on the dot and were finished by 4pm.

The event itself took place at Viper TC's field which was literally on top of a mountain - We were above the clouds for the most part. With no guard rail and a sheer drop to the side of the windy road, it was an 'interesting' ride to the site. The treacherous journey, however, was more than worth it! The field was set up very professionally with air and scoreboards in the pits and large scoreboard on the field. The field itself was a level as it could be. It had turf and a brand new PSP field. Also, its not often that you find running bathrooms at paintball field, let alone at the top of a mountain, but Viper TC provided excellent facilities. They also had a great concession stand with amazing fresh cooked food all day.

The only problem we had the entire weekend was rain. Although I was told it was uncommon for this time of the year, it rained hard all morning on Saturday and then the afternoon on Sunday but luckily it stopped before the semis and finals. The good thing was that all Eclipse markers kept performing just like they would on a nice sunny day...no problems at all.

The skill level for players in Venezuela is very high compared to a lot of countries I've been to, which resulted in a lot of exciting games in both divisions. There were some long hard fought-out games but in the end Team Outkast won Division2 and Team Clover won Division3. I played with Team Dragones in Division 2 and helped them reach their first podium finish in Venezuela taking home 3rd place. Team Dragones was run by one of Planet Eclipse’s dealers in Venezuela, Giancarlo from Venezuela Paintball Club. Great group of players on the team and really looking forward to playing with them again and hopefully next time it will be a 1st place finish.

Planet Eclipse Sponsored Team Fusion missed out on placing at this event but still secured enough points to take home the overall series championship!

Overall, coming to the LVP was a great experience and we look forward to working with Viper TC, the LVP Series and Team Fusion in the future. There are a lot of great things happening in Venezuela and its good to see Paintball continuing to grow in every corner of the world. We would like to thank Juan Carlos, Rafa and their Dad for having us. We also would like to thank all Eclipse Sponsored teams, Players and fans for attending the event. Without you paintball would not be where it is in Venezuela. Thank you everyone for the hospitality!!"

Against All Odds???

Team Raskal have been plagued with injuries over the last few months. Along with work commitments and injuries piling up and the last leg of the WPPL looming it didn’t look good for Raskal.

Raskal needed a good result in the final leg to secure the WPPL Series title.

After a few frantic phone calls to the Warriors and also pulling TC out of retirement for the event Raskals powered their way to not only the event win but to the WPPL series title for 2011.

Finnish summertime is perfect for paintballing. The weather is usually sunny but not too hot, cool breeze travels through the air, everything you see is beautiful greens and blue skies. But unfortunately there are three other seasons as well.

To cope with those “not so great for paintball” seasons and to make it possible to play paintball throughout the year Paintball Sissos ltd has opened a new indoor arena in the heart of Helsinki, Finland. Instead of going the traditional route of trying to find a low budget , just big enough for some bunkers to get a couple of games going during the winter, Sissos went all out with this one. We rented a whole floor from a huge industrial building, commonly nicknamed as “The Bunker”, with a whopping 5000 square meters of floor space.

Specs:....Heated, almost full sized millennium field (30m x 45m) with no interfering support pillars, turf, double safety nettings, pit & staging areas with tables for several simultaneous playing groups, 4500PSI air fills, kiosk with refreshments and some common paintball items for sale. For recreational ballers and rental groups the field can be equipped with scenario bunkers (along with the existing Millenium field bunkers) to make things even more interesting and appealing.

During business hours you can also visit Finland’s largest paintball store, conveniently on the same floor as the field, along with our fully stocked warehouse and paint warehouse. Everything is situated under one roof to make it effortless for the customer to come in and get his paintball fix from one spot.

It doesn’t matter anymore if it’s raining, cold, freezing cold or just too dark to play outside. Now you can experience all the fun in the center of Finland’s capital.

Formed in November 2010 Bad Moji hit the UK Scenario scene with passion, detirmination and a thurst to be crazy, mad winners!

Playing as many events as they could get to, including Stalingrad, Carentan, D-Day, Resident Evil and the Super6 Series, not to mention a nice trip to Croatia for Call To Duty III, Bad Moji became a known and a likable team....

Their antics on the field, including 'Ninja Barrel Tagging at D-Day' and being the Zombie Horde Vs 75 players at Resident Evil, where they faced 'Head Shot eliminations only' earnt them respect and a name for being slightly insane!

Off the field the antics are just as bad, regulary playing jokes on each other and getting most people involved made for good times during the player parties.

September for Bad Moji wasnt as bright. The Team lost Deej Matts in a trajic accident which left all the players devestated and shocked. Dj was a key member, more of a brother and will be sorely missed.

In October? Bad Moji were nominated in 3 categories for the 2011 UK Scenario Awards to be held in Birmingham in November.

Nominations included Best Breakthrough Team, Best Female Player and Best Male Player.
On the Night Bad Moji walked away with Best Breakthrough Team of 2011 and their newest member Kirsty Ellis walked away with Best Female Player 2011. James Woodgate 'Hunter' narrowly missed out on Best Male Player while Sheree Daniels 'Black Widow' missed on Best Female Player.

All in all it's been a great year for Bad Moji and 2012 is looking even better.

The festivities begin at 8PM. The draft starts at 8:30PM and games will begin no later than 8:45PM.

Super 7 Masters - Event Report

Super 7’s Masters 2011 – Event Report

Every year Australia’s premier paintball Series, The Super 7’s, is brought to a culmination by the series finale, The Masters, held at Action Paintball Games in Rouse Hill. The Masters traditionally occupies the final weekend in November and is always preceded by the State of Origin Championships on the Friday prior to the main event. The State of Origin is no joke as players from each of the Country’s states are invited to enter a team into the event to contest for the honour of becoming State of Origin Champions for the year. Regional pride runs like the Amazon through players’ veins and rivals from existing teams unite under the collective banner of a state team. Reigning champions Queensland were confident of retaining the title having stolen it from New South Wales the previous year. Alas it was not to be as NSW and Australia Capital Territory (ACT) both had other ideas and made the finals ahead of the 2010 Champions. In a gruelling final ACT, lead by Aaron “Henry” Sillis, couldn’t be usurped from their commanding lead and held on to the bitter end once again depriving New South Wales of bragging rights.

ACT - Origin 2011 Champions.

With the State of Origin still haunting some and invigorating others with confidence the 2011 Masters got underway. The energy sapping temperatures and humidity of the previous year were far from evident as the rains of the previous week greeted players upon their arrival on site as did the clay quagmire as they entered the staging area and fields. Cleats swiftly became a necessity and snorkels could have assisted many a snake player in their quest for tape supremacy. Three separate divisions, Amateur, Semi Pro and Pro, readied themselves to take their respective titles and brave the elements. Refs Inc were brought in to handle reffing duties and provided a fair and consistent platform by which players’ abilities were officiated. All of the teams present played the popular “Race to…” format governed by a variant of the Millennium Series rules, with the Amateur teams playing Race to 2, Semi-Pro teams playing Race to 3 and Pro teams playing Race to 4. Two fields, both of which featured the World Cup Asia layout, were set up and ready to receive the awaiting teams so without further ado it was time to begin the preliminaries.

The preliminary rounds were played throughout Saturday and culminated on Sunday morning. Highlights of the prelims included Explicit beating both Sydney SWAT and Hostile Intentions and the Clown Monkeys who had travelled all the way from New Zealand becoming acclimatized to their loaned Geo 2.1’s that the guys at Action Paintball provided them to save them from having to import their own markers just for the weekend. The format was governed by Millennium rules with a slight amendment to the rates of fire permitted with 13.0 balls per second being the maximum. Lanes were heavy off the break with the majority of teams struggling to break past the 30 yard line unless they were trying something special. With every team racing to reach the point limit required games were fast and furious and with sideline coaching permitted players were trying everything to out-think their opposition. The obvious assault on the snake side materialised but teams soon realised the value of taking the 50 yard bunker in the centre field and taking advantage of the ability to lock down either side of the field. Bobby Aviles achieved this to devastating effect as did Jonny Robba who was playing for X-Fighters.

The rains of Saturday morning ceased as things started to warm up in time for the afternoon, meaning that when you got soaked playing you at least dried out a little before your next soaking! Sunday however was a different matter with temperatures back to normal and the ground firming by the hour aiding players and referees alike. The standard of play remained high throughout and teams finishing off their remaining preliminary matches to see if they would finish in the top four places to earn the right to move forward and compete for either 1st vs. 2nd or 3rd vs. 4th in the finals. In The Amateur division Eclipse managed the clean sweep taking all three podium positions with Uprising B proving their worth to take the tile. In the Semi-Pro Division, Uprising A won their playoff match to take third, but the Clown Monkeys couldn’t quite secure their dream event losing to the Thundercats in the final. In the Pro Division the playoff between Explicit and the X-Fighters went down to extra time and one on ones. Bobby faced up against Jonny and a mutual elimination ensued forcing a second one on one which Explicit won to take third place. Having already won the Series by reaching the finals, SWAT were going for the double; winning the event and the Series. Hostile Intention however had other ideas and came blazing to take the match and the event.

South Beach Pimps giving back !!!!

The South Beach Pimps dropped a quick update this week on what they have been up too and what they thought of there 'South Beach Pimp Edition GEO 2.1'..............Read On !

The Pimps have recently received our South Beach Pimp Edition GEO 2.1s. This is my first spool valve marker. I have been using EGOs and ETEKs since they were introduced in 2005, and I really wasn't sure what to expect. I knew it would be well designed and a quality marker. Planet markers always are. I was not prepared to be blown away by the marker.

Out of the box, it just flat out performed. I put three cases through it with no issues at The Human vs. Zombie event. The speed was exactly what it should be, super fast. But what really blew me away was the way it felt in my hands. Super light and low. Really nice tight feel that enhances your snap shot. Needles to say, the finish was awesome and exactly the way Planet promised.

The real test came this weekend at the Toys for Tots charity event at Old River Paintball in Ocklawaha, Florida. The Pimps were there donating our time as referees, but my teenage son was there to play. So, I let him use the new beauty. He put a couple of cases through it as only a teenager can. The marker was unstoppable, never a break or issue. Definitely a must have marker!

At the 'Toys for Tots' event the South Beach Pimps provided the refereeing and Rex Green, owner of Old River Paintball, provided free entrance with a toy for the Toys for Tots charity. The field is awesome and the weather could not have been better.

After the game, came the feast in true Pimp fashion. The day's play was followed with a pig roast, Miami style. John Navarro of the Pimps did the cooking and Rex supplied the pig. The pig was slow roasted over 6 hours in the Cuban fashion. Dilicioso!

This was the second time the Pimps donated their time to facilitate this charity event. In the words of Mike Tolnay of the South Beach Pimps, "We get so much from this game that we have to give something back. A lot of children are going to have something to smile about this holiday season."

Viper TC Series - Venezuela

Planet Eclipse will be attending the season finale of the Viper TC Series in Venezuela from December 1st-4th.

Planet Eclipse will be hosting a dealer tech class (run by Certified Planet Eclipse Tech PJ), player service class and a Pro Clinic during the event. Marc Lancia, Sales Manager Planet Eclipse, and Mike Canto, South American Sales Rep, will be attending the event to have meet and greets with all dealers that will be out there.

Becoming series Champions for the first time is often hard enough, reclaiming that same title the next year seems to be even harder.

Besides having to prove themselves in the highest leagues of the Millennium and the DPL, Amsterdam HEAT had to battle its way through the best teams Holland had to offer in the NPL. As small as The Netherlands might be, the country seems to produce an interesting amount of passionate teams. It’s amazing to see how fast new players and teams develop themselves in this modern day.

That’s why the almost flawless Championship in 2010 would have to make place for a four weekend long grind. Teams like, Bad Boys, Relics, Ferox and even the Belgium SPL team Overdrive were all ready to rip the fabric off the freshly printed HEAT jerseys. Luckily none of them could withstand the heat the team managed to generate. With not a single match lost the combined forces of Amsterdam HEAT and HEAT II could once again step onto the highest podium place of the NPL.

A good team knows how to win, a great team knows how to win consistently and don’t we all know having the right gear in your hands is decisive. The players from Amsterdam HEAT have been with Planet Eclipse for quite some time now and having products made specifically for top-notch performance makes all the difference.

The team will continue to shoot the magnificent GEO’s and EGO’s throughout the next season and is determined to show the damage it can do.

Knowledge For All..

Here at Planet Eclipse we try very hard to give the players that purchase our equipment the best possible customer service we can. We spend a huge amount of time and money travelling to events around the world teching customer’s markers.

Some of the places we travel too are quite far away and sometimes remote. We never simply want to arrive, help and then leave with the players praying we will come back soon. We always try and train as many Dealers as we can while we are there so that they can service the player’s needs while we are away at other events. But even this sometimes isn’t enough. We realise that there are different types of players around the world. Some just want to air up there marker and go and play, some players want more than the knowledge you can get from a manual (even if the Eclipse manuals are brilliant) isn’t as good as hands on training. Some people simply don’t have the luxury of having a dealer nearby.

At the recent World Cup Asia Pals events in Langkawi, Malaysia we introduced our ‘Players Maintenance Class’. After the extensive dealer class had finished players were invited to book into the Players Maintenance Class, 90 minutes long, the class walked the players through simple day to day maintenance of their markers to keep them running in tip top order.

You do see some sights, with markers that were 2 or 3 years old that had NEVER been serviced starting out thick with dirt and grease, leaving running smoother than ever and all gleaming.

The Players Maintenance Class will become a regular feature at events whenever we can fit them in. So keep your eyes open for the next class near you.

Iowa State Paintball - Update

Figured it had been a little while since our last team update. Here is what's going on with Iowa State Paintball, as well as an overview from our last Tournament.

On November 12, the ISU Cyclones traveled to The Missouri Open, at RiverSplat Paintball in Moscow Mills, MO, just outside St. Louis to compete in our second MICT event. We brought two teams to this tournament, which made up 40% of the 5 team total at the event. Both ISU Gold and ISU Red started out the day strong, with Gold going 3-1 in the prelims and knocking out Kansas University and Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST) in two games a piece in the Race-2 format. MST was the team that beat Iowa State out at Event 1 for 3rd place. ISU Gold dropped one series to Arkansas University, Who also went 3-1 in the prelims. Coincidentally, Arkansas only dropped point was to ISU's Red line.

Leading into semi-finals, Arkansas beat out ISU Gold by 1 point, giving them a bye straight to finals. ISU Gold had to prove we deserved to be there and play another series against MST, who edged out ISU Red by 1 point in the prelims. ISU Red ended the day in 4th place, which considering they had 4 freshman and 3 players who were brand new to NCPA play, was a pretty good showing. The boys had some controversial calls but kept it together and definitely gave us (ISU Gold) a run for our money. Next time, we might have to think twice about strategizing with them in the hotel the night before!

ISU Gold had two rounds aginst MST with no points. The first was called no point on account of a dirty ISU flag hang and the second was because our idiot captain (myself) yelled to grab the flag right after I got shot and was on my way off the field. The 3rd game was all us though, and we moved on to play Arkansas. We kept the games close and without penalties. With coaching from our Red line, we were able to keep Arkansas out of the snake, which had been owning the field all day. In the end, Arkansas ended up beating us 2 games to 1, giving us 2nd place.

The Egos and Geos shot sauce all day, even with the paint at the event being a little bit oblong and disfigured. We were proud to represent Planet Eclipse at the event, and hopefully we can bring home some More trophies for Iowa State and Eclipse when we start up again next Spring!

Ranger - Champions of Poland

At the end of the season some teams just go to sleep for a few months. Some teams are already starting to prepare for 2012. Ranger Warsaw sent me this video with a message… I pretty powerful message… What a great way to thank your sponsors !!

Diamond Wars Finale - 27th Nov 2011

Sunday 27th November sees this year's conclusion of theawesome Diamond Wars series held at National Paintball Fields Birmingham,England. This has to be one of the finest monthly events held on our shores, and you will often see my Mercs and I doing battle for the highest bidderto line our deep pockets with blood dollars!

Last month I took a small squad down to play alongsidethe HMC, a controversial switch of sides to our normal USDE allegiance. TheUSDE were foolish to under estimate my Merc forces no matter how small… TheFools…..However, this month I extend an olive branch to the USDE in the hopethat next season they may wish to fight alongside my Mercs once more (for theright price of course).....

Commander Baddeley of the USDE has today passed me topsecret co-ordinates to allow an airdrop of our latest in high techweaponry at 09.30hrs, to their HQ location deep in the Corimbe. TheETHAs will be available to use throughout the day's play, so speak to CdrBaddeley if you'd like to roll with one for a while! The red smoke will markthe landing point of our care package… I will also send a healthy bounty ofgoodies down so the players on the USDE can also revel in the spoils of war…

Mega Game Tops 1000 Players...

Fulda Gap2012 by Jason "foolybear" Lineberger

Big Game- a paintball format usually involving a set number of flag stations worth aspecified amount of points. While theterm "big game" denotes a large number of players, what qualifies as"large" is subjective. At somefields 100 players would be a crowd, while at others 100 players could fanacross the field without meeting each other.

Mega Game- a specific annual event held at Command Decisions Wargames Center in NorthCarolina. The Fulda Gap Mega Game beganin 2006 with approximately 300 players and has grown since then to break the1000 player cap, putting it, in terms of size, in line with some of the biggestpaintball games in the world. Fulda Gaptranscends big-gameness. The armor, thecharges, the field, the teams, the camping - Fulda Gap Mega Game has maturedfrom an intriguing scenario to one of those handful of must-play paintballgames.

FuldaGap's premise stems from a real Cold War military scenario where NATO troopsdrilled against a possible land invasion of Europe by Warsaw forces through theFulda Gap region of Germany. The game'sformat mirrors the real-world scenario; NATO begins by holding key bases aroundthe 70+ acres of land at Command Decisions, and Warsaw makes an aggressivesurge using their superior armor to take those defensive positions. Generals on each side plan their strategieswell in advance knowing that they'll have simulated airstrikes, chemical gasattacks, tanks, and even the ability to use tactical nukes to remove an area ofthe field entirely. Also, since timingand coordination can mean the difference between taking a base and wastefullythrowing players at a losing cause, the generals began recruiting early thisyear, through personal contacts, using online paintball forums, and evenutilizing recruitment videos, like this one for the Warsaw Pact.

MakingThe Scene . . . . . . .As theFulda Gap Mega Game has grown, so has everything surrounding it. Over 1000 players attended this year, andmany of them chose to camp. Theexpansive camping area, divided into NATO and Warsaw zones, has become a sea ofRVs, tents, and trailers, and now that this event is a staple on many teams'schedules, it's the place to get reconnect with paintball friends and close outthe year with one last blast. The vendorshave also seen the opportunity, and Vendor Row has steadily grown as well, froma few pop-up tents to this year's mobile showcase trailers. As intense as the action gets on the field,off it Fulda Gap is a paintball meet-and-greet, and with players from acrossthe United States (and overseas!) attending this event, there are plenty tomeet.

PAR (Paintball Action Report) . . . . . . .After thedominating victory by NATO in 2010, the Warsaw Pact troops came with a fire litunder them, hungry for payback. Led byAl "Aldva" Downs of team SoVa, Warsaw pushed aggressively from theopening bang and rolled through the entrenched NATO defenders. Within an hour they had NATO on their heels,and by noon, when Warsaw's Czech Paratroopers inserted in force, their missionto take the forts on the back end of the field had already been completed. What followed on Saturday was sporadicskirmishes between some tight-knit NATO units determined to hold off theinevitable advance and Warsaw shooters eager for a confrontation. One by one, the NATO-held bases dropped untilas time expired for Saturday's segment, NATO held out in the urban field neartheir base, desperately clutching to their last bit of real estate.

Ballin' After Dark . . . . . . .Duringnight play, teams Capital Offense, Thunderstruck, and SoVa coordinated a plan designedto lock down the field for Warsaw. Theydivided up shooters wearing night vision goggles (NVGs) and teamed those withgroups of players without night vision units. NATO fielded squads using advanced thermal imaging technology, but evenso, the motivated Warsaw teams quickly established control of four out of thefive bases up for points during the night segment. Once again though, while Warsaw players snuckinto Sim City (called Frankfurt in the game) and flipped the flag at one point,they couldn't crack NATO's hold on that location. With four out of five bases though, the nightportion widened an already wide points margin between the sides.

Sunday Bloody Sunday . . . . . . .Saturday'sone-sided battles gave way to much more competitive contests on Sunday. NATO, led by Larry "Ironman"Rivenbark, brought their A game early Sunday morning with assaults deep intoterritory held by Warsaw throughout Saturday's day and night segments. NATO had changed their tactics, favoringassaults on the perimeter bases while utilizing the game's rules to open DZ's(dead zones) in those areas. Withouteasy roads for tanks or open fields for mass charges, Warsaw had much moredifficulty prying NATO's gunners from their bases. Warsaw never let up on the pressure, and theprecise troop coordination through Warsaw's command structure allowed them tofocus their pushes on key zones to crack the NATO wall.

In thefinal hour, Warsaw turned their full attention on Sim City. The Fulda Gap players shot over 3.5 millionpaintballs during the weekend, and from the intensity of that last hour,probably 25% of the shots fired took place in those hotly contested 60minutes. Like leaks in the dam, Warsawrunners made small inroads into the city, taking the perimeter buildings,massing players, then making insane dashes to the interior. Ten players might run to have two survive,but two guns at a building opened new moves. Eventually NATO fought in increasingly tight quarters and finally theirlines collapsed as Warsaw swept the field in the closing minutes. The sixth Fulda Gap drew to a close, and asteams packed up their camp sites, they already began turning their attention toa return in 2012.

Foolybear on the Frontlines . . . . . .Sundaywas by far the better day this year, and my favorite moment happened on amission through the woods at the far end of the field, the farthest point awayfrom the main bases where the action tends to happen. For this year's Fulda Gap I left my Geo inthe hands of my daughter, foolycub, while I put the new Etha to the test of amajor two day paintball throwdown. Thetwo of us separated from our team (Capital Offense) and joined up with someplayers from teams Fracture and Wulfenkow to clear out the back woods that werethick with NATO players. While my Warsawcompanions moved in force on both my left and right, foolycub and I dashed upthe middle, straight into the enemy. Itwas one of those moments when everything comes together. With their attention drawn to the massivegroups on either side, the NATO players failed to see the threat coming downthe middle. I felt bad for stealing allthose eliminations, but I'll justify it by saying that I had to really test theEtha.

Results -I put two cases of paint through that beast, one of field grade and one thatwas of a higher grade. Zero breaks inthe gun or barrel. At one point I dovebehind a bunker so hard that I cracked my nigh-indestructable loader. Damage to the Etha? Zero. Entry level? Hardly! It might cost like an amateur but it swingslike a champ.

Eclipse DOMINATE Around the World

Last weekend was one of the biggest on the calendar with the Pals Asia World Cup happening in Langkawi, Malaysia and the final leg of the NPPL also happening in Vegas, USA. Not to mention the IWC – International Woodsball Championships in Malaysia!

If you have been stuck under a rock for a week and don’t know the result let me fill you in...

Let’s start with the NPPL. Obviously, teams were competing for the Vegas Title but also for the NPPL Series titles.

Planet Eclipse teams came flying out of the gates at this one and scooped the top three podium places in the Pro’s:

Boooom !!! Great result for Aftershock. Dynasty taking 2nd place also gave them the series title to go alongside their PSP series title for 2011, making this a VERY impressive year for Dynasty. But just one division lower Dynasty 2 were taking home the 1st place gold medal for the event, with Impact Echo matching their Pro teams result taking 3rd Place which also gave Impact Echo the Div 1 NPPL Series Championship. Not a bad day in the office.. :-) Well done everyone.

A few thousand Miles away on the beautiful island of Langkawi, Malaysia, Team Datis were also tying up the end to a great season. Planet Eclipse sponsored Team Datis from Iran not only won the Pals Asia World Cup but also secured the Pals Series title. They also show depth in their squad with sister team Diako winning Div 3.

The Pals Asia World Cup was a pretty impressive event for many reasons and if anything is going to raise the tournament circuit bar then this may well have been it…

And last but certainly not least was the Command and Conquer International Woodsball Championship in with a scratch team with three Brits (Dickie and Jim from Disruption and Ledz), Dean from Raskals and the rest of the Warriors calling themselves 'Raskals Avengers' beat seven time .. YES seven time reigning champions ‘Team Unknown’ to take away the title…Not a bad first woodland tournament outing for the Etha…

A brilliant weekend for Planet Eclipse teams around the world….

South Africa Adventures !

Imagine our delight when Hardie and Elaine from The Paintball Shop, our South African Distributors, called up our Manchester office one rainy afternoon and asked if we would go out to Johannesburg to attend the Africa Cup event with them, meet some of their customers and generally see the work that they are doing to spread knowledge of Eclipse and our products throughout their continent. Flying such a long way and only being able to stay for a long weekend, it was imperative that we made the most of our time in South Africa, so having been met at the airport when we landed on Friday morning by Hardie, Jason (owner of The Paintball Shop in Port Elizabeth) and Llewelyn (SA photographer and illustrator extraordinaire) it was straight off to the field where the Africa Cup was to be played only a short 15 minute ride from the airport.

Still slightly groggy from the overnight flight and full equipped with our hoodies and jeans it was time to break out the shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops and sunscreen and embrace the good weather. Having unloaded the contents of Hardies Vito we made sure that everything was secured away in preparation for opening the booth early the following morning, and hit the road once again so that we could check out their main store and headquarters in a town called Centurion, approximately 40 minutes outside of Johannesburg. Whilst the transportation was modern, seating arrangements were not and I got to travel "Africa Style".

The Paintball Shop Centurion is well stocked and offers customers the chance to get hands on with the entire Eclipse range; including the latest HDE clothing and our new Etha marker. It was immediately evident how enthusiastic all the staff were and whilst we had the tour of the facility, the shop staff attended to customers with requests ranging from wanting information on the latest home defence gear to wanting to purchase top of the range tournament markers. As a manufacturer it's important to get a handle on the diversity of our marker and it's often not until you physically go and visit customer and see the pro-activeness and hard work of your chosen Distributors that you really appreciate what they are working with and against. In that respect, day one had already ticked a lot of boxes! trusting our stomachs insistence that it was time to eat we devoured some pizza and boarded the Vito once more to take it some of the sights this time in the form of a Game Drive to a nearby Lion and Rhino Reserve. Game Drives in South Africa make a mockery of the animals that we see in Zoo's over here in the UK as everything is roaming round a huge area of private land in a natural environment. Obviously carnivores are separated from herbivores but the sheer variety and closeness of the animals was breath-taking! In only a couple of hours we not only got to see Rhino, Zebra, Lions, Warthogs, Cheetahs, Wild Dogs, Impala, Kudu, Wildebeest and Buffalo but we also got to go and play with real lion and tiger cubs!

Friday night saw us be treated to a "Braai"; South African for BBQ, and we were joined by Jason's team mate and colleague from Port Elizabeth; Michael along with his girlfriend Nicola. Possibly the biggest steaks we have ever seen in our lives greeted us and we got to sample the local beverages in the form of Castle Lager and the formidable Stroh Rum; which at 80% certainly saw to the jetlag and made sure we had no issues sleeping! Saturday morning rolled round all too quickly and it seemed like only seconds since we'd closed our eyes the night before, but after a quick sort out it was off to the field for the start of the Africa Cup. The Paintball Shop had a set up that incorporated a fully stocked sales booth as well as a tech support booth. Whilst many might be fooled into thinking that players would be using out of date equipment; everyone was fully aware of what the latest Eclipse gear was and eager to get their hands on the Etha and shoot it for themselves. Having the luxury of having a couple of demonstration Etha markers on hand, meant that we could go through the technically aspects of the marker with any players who wanted more info and were also able to loan them out to any players wanting to shoot them in a game. Needless to say we were overwhelmed with requests and whilst the markers performed faultlessly it was a struggle getting them out of one players hand into the next!

The event was well attended with over 40 teams split between the 3-man competition and 5-man competition which saw teams travel from as far afield as Namibia to give the event a truly international feel. South African paintball is not dissimilar with European paintball. Players have access to all of the same resources that we have and infact have the advantage of a more favourable climate in which to play than certainly the UK. Whilst the climatic conditions are stable, the economic ones are not and paintball is still relatively young with the main players slowly but surely beginning to work together to build an infrastructure that can support paintball in the long term and ensure that the players needs are met. The Africa Cup was a solid step forward in the process as it allowed various wholesalers from within the South African community to cohabit the same event and ultimately the players to benefit as there was a greater variety of product available to view and purchase. Aside from Eclipse's involvement it was great to see the likes of KEE and HK also send representatives across to the event to not only promote their products but show the South Africans that as an industry they are important to all of us.

Saturday night was a more sombre affair; or at least we thought that it was going to be! After freshening up we went out to a restaurant owned by Nicola's father; 'More'. Knowing that there were foreign visitors in town only added to his already mischievous attitude and he soon proceeded to involve us in some bizarre ritual that incorporated a head-lock and being forced to drink an overwhelming quantity of liqueur - less than ideal for some of us! Fortunately the food was beyond awesome and if you're ever in the area it would be criminal not to try out the Biltong Pate starter! Sunday morning arrived before we knew it and we were back on site ready to see how the South African division of our Emortal army would fare. In the 3-man Play Division Golden Boys came out on top beating EspireE Carbon in the finals, whilst in the 3-man Elite Division; Revolution (SARPL) beat Durban Corruption (KPPL) to take the title. In Division of the 5-man Eclipse sponsored Firestorm won the event beating newcomers HPB Wicket in the final, who were playing there very first event! Firestorms victory was made even more impressive by the fact that they did not drop a single point throughout the entire event! In the 5-man Pro Division our old friends Dynamix had a hard fought battle against Reaper to take the win and the series title - congratulations to all the teams that took part in the Africa Cup 2011; you did yourselves and South African Paintball proud!

With only one night remaining on South African soil we elected to play it safe and avoided and last minute controversy. Monday saw us taking in our final hours of Winter sunshine whilst checking out downtown Jo' burg under the watchful eye of Hardies' Special Forces chum Japie. Japie did offer us the chance to take part in his works' "Bring a friend to be a hostage day" but we politely declined in favour of returning home in one piece! Liberty Univeristy Start STRONG !!!

It has been a long break from college paintball since the National finals and Liberty University has been training hard all off season at their home field on Campus. Despite a great season we were upset with how the nationals ended. We were looking forward to taking home the first place trophy. The beginning of the college paintball season has already started and on Saturday November 12th, the Liberty University Paintball Team played their first event of the Class A paintball season. Liberty played games against Kennesaw State University and the defending National Champions, University of Tennessee. Liberty Univ beat Kennesaw State 7-2 and 8-2 and then made a huge statement by beating Tennessee 11-4 and 11-2. Beating the National champs at home is a tremendous boost to the program and going 4-0 on the season puts Liberty in first place of the South East Conference.

Pub Crawling - One for the Road !!

2011 is almost over, and PUB CRAWLING has crawled from Tennessee, to South Carolina, to Pennsylvania, to Virginia, back to Pennsylvania, one more game in Pennsylvania, then to New Hampshire to tour the Harpoon Brewery (surprised?) out to Ohio, and now we’re headed back to South Carolina. In that time we’ve picked up 5 Most Valuable team awards, 1 Sportsmanship award, 1 Most Formidable Opponent Award, 1 Most Valuable Player Award, and 1 Young Gun Award (for MJ’s son Bradzilla, and Grubermann’s son Spawn). We were also part of the UNHOLY ALLIANCE, leading the defenders at EMR Paintball Park’s Spring Castle Conquest…in a one-time only 6 to 1 against attack and defend game that drew almost 1000 players!!!

This coming weekend we will be at the MPP scenario paintball game held at Paintball Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina. We can’t think of a better way to wrap up our hugely successful 2011 season than attending a quality scenario game produced by Ben Torricelli and his wife, Bonnie: other than attending it at a quality scenario field, like Paintball Charleston!!!

We hope to see you all out there this weekend and just to keep it fun; we will be rolling with a friend of ours and his tank, called ‘Kraken’. This tank has 2 nerf rocket launchers and 3 (yep, I said 3) Planet Eclipse EGOS as the anti-personnel weaponry. This should only make it more interesting!

To win a single event is a great achievement but could be put down to so many factors. Sometimes everything just slots into place... or falls apart around your feet. But to win a Series takes something special - that extra level of commitment that you have to sustain from start to finish as well the skills to compete at each and every event.

That is what two of the Planet Eclipse sponsored teams have done this season to rise to the very top of the series.

In the Semi-Pro Bracket (Div 1) upTon 187 cRew have not only won the PSP World Cup but also the PSP Series Champions title and promotion to the Professional Bracket. Keep your eyes open for upTon 187 cRew featuring in an ETV soon.

In the Professional bracket it’s even harder with the best of the best fighting it out month after month. Training in several different formats to compete in different series around the world (PSP, NPPL and the Millennium) is no easy task but to excel in one or more is amazing. Dynasty finished the PSP World Cup in 3rd Place. This was more than enough to secure the PSP Professional Series Championship, the first time that Dynasty has ever won the PSP Series Championship.

Spartacus: Blood and Heroes

Around the farmhouse soldiers for House Solonius shored up holes in their perimeter defenses. With thick woods within easy shot of their fortifications and a densely overgrown trail in the low lying areas, this strategically-key position might fall under a focused assault. Lurking in the weeds on the periphery, squads for House Batiatus awaited the signal to charge. Meanwhile, in the gladiatorial arena, the top warriors for both houses squared off in a one-on-one duel to the end. Behind the scenes, the Lunistas for each house dispatched teams to recover bags of grain, sacks of gold, weapons, armor, and more - anything that could be converted to ready money, the lifeblood of both armies.

The game is Millennium Paintball Productions's scenario epic Spartacus: Blood and Heroes. This battle, based on the Showtime series Spartacus, pitted House Batiatus (lead by Paul "Hurricane" Hatrel of Bayou Mafia) against House Solonius (generalled by Mike "Tinker" Bell). Ben and Bonnie Torricelli transformed the woods and structures of Bearclaw paintball into a Roman cityscape complete with everything from markets to arenas set aside for gladiatorial combat.

Bearclaw creates a different atmosphere compared with other scenario fields. The RV hookups encourage camping, and amenities like the bathhouse and food vendors make setting up a tent an easier choice. Bearclaw teams expect a fun, family environment where players leave the intensity and rivalries of the game at the netting, so the campground is typically thick with smells of grilling food and full of the sounds of teams enjoying a weekend of paintball.

Likewise, MPP Games has established a reputation for quality scenario events, usually based around recreations of historic battles. Always looking for ways to keep the product fresh, Ben threw several curveballs into this game design. Scenario players are used to the traditional format - running missions, earning points, collecting props, and these days largely ignoring any opportunities to develop the storyline through role-playing. Spartacus, the scenario event, wrecked this standard formula, foremost by eliminating points. No points for missions? None. Every mission in the game was simply a clue as to the location of a prop that could be sold for game cash or used as a bargaining chip with a role-player to try to finagle even more cash. Each general knew the sum total of his cash stash, but neither the game producer, the other general, or the players had any idea who had the deeper pockets, and it wasn't until the final, post-game tally that the expectant players learned the outcome of their weekend of battles.

Torricelli also flipped the script by taking a role in the game himself. He represented a third faction with his own clique of loyal role-players. These unarmed characters reported directly to Ben, so trigger-happy players beware, as unwarranted eliminations would earn their side the wrath of the game producer! This simple wrinkle boosted role-playing, making the whole game experience all the richer for everyone. Torricelli even took the gladiatorial aspect of the setting and ran with it as a series of one-on-one matches that culminated in a single player being crowned victor (Hawk from team Nitro).

In terms of the game, House Solonius came on strong at the beginning, starting with some advantage in terms of field position, but as the day wore on, House Batiatus steadily ate up ground and by late afternoon they hemmed Solonius into their base. Hard-gunning teams like Eclipse-sponsored Black Karma and Gun Kings, hungry for victory, moved the lines continuously forward; however, it's hard to sustain an assault in paintball. Paint supplies run low and tired players need and break; House Solonius sensed a lull in the action and charged out of their base to recapture some essential positions. The prop placement kept the generals on their toes, sending mission squads to remote corners of the field as well as centrally located and hotly contested zones. After a day, a night, and another day of paintball action, House Batiatus scraped together a touch more cash than their rivals, winning the game 36-35.

Foolybear on the Frontlines

Sunday morning I hit the field eager to get a little payback for the beating House Batiatus put on my team late Saturday. I helped run missions on both tapelines, but as the morning passed the frontlines inched closer and closer to our base. When some shooters for House Batiatus pushed all the way up our tape to our back corner, I knew that our lines stood ready to collapse for good. The only way to dig out of this hole was to start in the corner and work up, and that meant starting with one of the lowest percentage battles - a straight up, head-to-head gunfight. I used trees to cover my approach, and with an opponent shooting over the top of his bunker, the gun fight ended quickly. I took his spot, worked up the tapeline, and shot their players on the tape while they engaged my teammates in head-on battles. Sometimes all it takes is a taste of victory to fire up some aggression. The stagnant long-balling turned to aggressive bumps up the field as my teammates saw their opposition walking away. After emptying my last pod, I left the field, damage done. House Solonius, pushed up field with a new confidence. I have to give props to my the teams on House Batiatus; it didn't take long for them to shut down the surge I spawned, but the ground we gained opened some routes to valuable props in that last dash for cash.

Tough teams, friendly atmosphere, creative game - even with the eight hour drive, I'm ready for another round.

Synergy comes good...

Millennium Series Leg 4 Paris,
Disney World Cup 30 September - 2 October 2011

It’s been a rough season for Copenhagen Synergy. Just before the season started it was quite clear that a new roster was needed since a couple of guys had dropped off for different reasons. The solution was to join bands with a Swedish team from Malmo, MPA Blackout, without any Millennium experience what so ever. Together we decided to play as Copenhagen Synergy in the Millennium Series division 1 and as MPA Blackout in the open division in the Swedish Championships called “Planet Eclipse Paintball SM”.

With the season opener in Paris and a placement dead last it was quite clear that the team had a lot to work on. It was a rough start but no one in the team had any intentions of giving up. We all knew we could be a top contender in the division although the results were speaking of the opposite. During the season we slowly got it together and the team play and dynamics in the team just grew better every practice and every tournament.

For the last event of the year, again in Paris, it was time to prove for ourselves and our sponsors and friends that we actually are a top team in this division. With two wins and one loss in the preliminaries Synergy was through for Sunday where Epidemy HPS Lille awaited us in the top 16 game. They had a great start taking the first two points but after adjusting our gameplans we took four consecutive points in a row and ended the match 4-2 to Synergy.

Next up was Dagnir Dae 2 in the top 8 game. This time the Synergy freight train started to roll. With an average weight of 104 kilos in the Paris roster you sure can call it Freight train. 4-0 to Synergy and we were through to semifinals against Empire Venice.
The semi finals against Empire Venice was a tough fought game. They were fast, aggressive and very quick at pushing forward when we lost bodies on the field. As soon as we felt we were catching up to their speed it was like they increased it. Win for Empire Venice 4-2 and we were up for the match of third place against Drammen Sabotage.

We had seen Sabotage play during the tournament and the layout fitted their fast paced and aggressive style well. We knew what we were getting ourselves in to. It was an even, back and forth game up to 2-2. Then Synergy got the upper hand and took the third place with 4-2 end result.

Master Techs Hit the UK

With the impending release of the Eclipse Etha we invited a selection of our Master Technicians over to Manchester early in September to attend a secret Etha testing session and get some hands-on experience with our latest creation. The testing was scheduled to take place at the Staargate Super 6 event in Wakefield, so rather than rush around like lunatics on the Sunday morning, Gerry Bates (PE USA), Snypi (Paintball.de) and Cheveux (CAMP) elected to fly into town on the Saturday morning and have a day to acclimatise. Rather than waste a day it was off to Conway with Ledz and Eilidh to take a step back in time at Conway Castle and sample some real Fish and Chips!

Sunday rolled round and our eclectic mix of Technicians were joined by our R+D guru's Flash and Jack as well as our sales manager, Tom Rust. Whilst playing styles and levels of enthusiasm varied; one factor was consistent throughout the day - Etha was bringing smiles to the faces of everyone who used it as they immediately appreciated the mass appeal it would generate. Tired but satisfied, everyone slept well on Sunday night in preparation for a days of intensive Etha training at our new Headquarters in Manchester on Monday morning. It was the first time that Gerry, Snypi and Cheveux had seen our new offices and warehouse and having all previously visited our old premises, the looks on their faces were priceless!

Having a full day's play with Etha under their collective belts already, meant that many of the usual impending questions had already been answered and they could begin disassembling the marker under the watchful guidance of Jack Wood. Jack spent the morning detailing the finer points of Etha's mechanical operation, detailing the parts that would require lubrication and maintenance whilst highlighting the features of design that promoted the reliability and durability that we wanted to feature highly in the Etha. After a short break for lunch to sample yet another English Chippy, our three amigos were educated on all of the Electrical aspects of the Etha ; mentored this time by Flash. Snypi and Cheveux had to leave back to Germany and France respectively but Gerry managed to fit in his first football (Soccer) match making Gerry an official Manchester City supporter now!

Slagen Bandits do Millennium Paris

World Cup- Paris, last tournament of the year, last chance to reach for glory and to test yourself and your team against opponents from all over the world. Everybody wants to end the year on a high note to fuel the fires for next year and the off season training. There was a recordbreaking number of teams in division 2 as it is the highest unlocked division available for teams that dont play the whole series. We anticipated that with the high number of unranked teams like ourselves there would be plenty of wildcard teams and it would be hard to predict the outcome of most prelim groups.

The weather was splendid all weekend long even though 25 degrees is almost to warm for us northerners to play in. I felt pity for Ingar our snakeplayer as he would run to the snake of the break almost every point this weekend. Thank goodness he is in great shape!

We entered two teams this event, one in div 2 and one in div 3. For many players this was their first millennium, for some old friends it was their first millennium back on the same team again since 2008.

Thursday we walked the field and some people worked on their tan. We had two prelim games on Friday, the first against Athens Legion from Greece. After arriving on site early we manage to put of getting our paint for to long and barely have time to pod up as games are way ahead of the schedule. Totally stressed out we take to the field and a couple of 1-4-1 later we are down 2-0 after only a couple of minutes. The older guys on the team take charge and remind everyone on the team that we have been down many times this season but always managed to come back. We didn't really change our game plan much, we only calmed down and executed it better and put 4 points on the board to win the match.

Next game was against Ferox Rotterdam from Holland. This time we start even worse and dig ourselves really deep into a hole by going 3-0 down. Again we take a deep breath, its plenty of time left on the clock. We have to start by putting one point on the board and once we do that we know what we are capable of. Most importantly: don't get an early penalty!

It is in situations like these I am really proud of my team, even with our backs against the wall we never give up! Once we get that first point its like a wave of Egos and Geos rolling down the field scoring 4 points. Again we have pulled out a victory from the brink of defeat! Smiles all around we collect our stuff and head back to the hotel to get some rest.

Saturday we had an early game against Mustang Chatreux from France. We managed to scout them on Friday but they have changed their breakout and are now breaking much longer on the snakeside. Once again we have a bad start going 3-0 down before we manage to adjust. Then we get that first point.. And the second.. The third.. We bring it back to 3-3 but this time there will be no great escape as we lose the last point and the match 3-4. Really disappointed and pissed at ourselves we realize that even with two wins we might be knocked out as this means that there are three teams with two wins each in our group.
After we nervously add up the scores we realize we are through, but as number two in our group which means better opposition in our next match.

Our second team had been helping us out in the pit and working their asses of in the heat and now it was time to return the favor. They do great and win all their games except one.

In the afternoon it was time for our first finals game against Manchester Firm 2 from England. We lose two quick points due them playing good and us making some stupid mistakes. We adjust to their breakout and manage to shoot a couple of guys of the break for some quick points ourselves and bring it back to 2-3 but that is as close as we get and they take the last point.

We were really disappointed afterwards in some of the mistakes we made and would like nothing more than a rematch but in the end they played very well and deserved the win.

But at least we had one team playing on Sunday as our second team played great and advanced easily from the prelims. Unfortunately they also got knocked out in their first finals game by team STK who ended up winning the event.

The team learned some harsh lessons in France, and once again it showed that there is no substitute for international tournament experience. So we will take these lessons to heart and grow as a team as we get ready for next year..
