Our favourite Portuguese men of paintball war, Sporting CP, have been having a season! They make the journey to the UK for each round of the UK's premiere paintball series, the CPPS which in itself is admirable. Competing in the Series' highest division, Elite, is no easy task. The whole division is stacked but the top 5 teams really are the very best the UK has to offer, with the likes of The Lucky 15s and Manchester Firm fighting to claim the title on home soil. Sporting had a great season in 2023, but they wanted more, so we asked them about their plans for 2024 and how things are shaping up so far. 2018 gave us some fantastic matchups in the NXL. And although some familiar patterns emerged as the season progressed, others were slowly forming behind the scenes which led to one of the most exciting NXL World Cups we've seen in a long while. Unless you're Edmonton Impact, that is. As one of, if not THE most professional and consistently successful team in NXL history, Impact played some outstanding paintball throughout the year with their eyes firmly fixed on two things. Winning a fourth NXL Pro Series (in a row) AND the NXL World Cup 3Peat. Unfortunately for Impact, the best of the rest had other ideas. And in the course of one single match their dreams began to slip through their fingers. After losing to the Russians – which took the Cup 3Peat out of the equation – the Series title was in the hands of the paintball Gods and one match result. The NXL World Cup Final between Houston Heat and the Russian Legion. And once the final buzzer sounded... it was all ove...

What a fantastic result! The French Championships are a very well respected series of events with some great teams competing for the prestigious honours. And the latest event was dominated by Eclipse teams... which is nice. Paris Camp Carnage managed to take 1st place spot in D1 (beating the Ton Tons yet again). Martigny Lions took top honours in D2, meaning they now qualify for D1 in 2019. And the RNPPC under 16s team, who all played with Etha2s took first place in their division. What can we say? College paintball. Yep, it really, genuinely, 100% is a thing. And it's a great thing too! It isn't at the level of the more mainstream sports but we do know there are actual airball fields and facilities on campus at some participating colleges. Which is pretty damn awesome. And where better to spread the gospel of paintball than at youth level. In a controlled environment, surrounded by your college buddies where it's supported and encouraged by the college sports programmes. The UK (and maybe other countries too) run a tournament event called the CPPS Student Cup which involves a number of teams, supported by and endorsed by their respective Colleges and Universities. They all rock up and duke it out for bragging rights for one weekend in the CPPS calendar. But could this be more? We think it should be, to grow a more passionate following and help educate more about the joys and benefits of paintball. Which brings us to the point of this article, and to the NCP...

As you all know we LOVE to hear stories from our teams around the world. They excite us, they give us an insight into the playing scenes that differ slightly from country to country and we especially like to hear from teams who we've supported for long periods of time when they start to come of age, so to speak. One such team is South Africa's Brutal Affliction who have been working tirelessly to achieve a very specific goal. A goal that they reached very recently. In a nutshell, over the past 8+ years only two teams in South Africa have won every single "pro" tournament. Dynamics and Reapers. These two teams have dominated the country over the years and no other team has really come close to touching them.

Great title right? Post number #07 in our series of most memorable moments over the past 25 yeas of Planet Eclipse zooms in on the shop team – before there was a shop actually – the Banzai Bandits. In fact, this is about one event in particular, the 1997 Hyperball Championships. An event that sticks with them to this day, and for very good reason. But before we get to the event itself we need to give you a little history lesson about the team. How did the Banzai Bandits first start? This could be a really long story. I started playing back in 1986; I was invited by a friend. I was hooked so started to look for more venues. A few of my friends and I started playing at a Paintball site in Worsley. We didn't have a team name or anything, we just attended normal customer days using Splatmasters.
