The 2023 NXL Europe Pro Paintball Season has come to a close, and what a season we've had! For the third year in a row Toulouse TonTon took the Pro Division gold, which is an incredible result considering the insane levels of performance shown by many teams in the NXL Europe Pro Division. Gone are the days of single team dominance as we welcome an era that brings wider levels of team performance and consistency, which for the observer is tremendous to watch. We now have a division of teams who need to fight for every single point, at every single event to maintain their position, which makes the winner's achievements all the more admirable. TonTon are an impressive team. Their commitment, drive and desire to win is clear for all to see and the talent base they have is enviable. Many opponents find it hard to look beyond their aggressive playing style and their ability to destroy excellent teams within seconds, but they're much, much smarter and well-balanced than that. Cards on the table, and it's a bit of a running joke between ourselves and our awesome French buddies at Camp Paintball; every year there is an exceptional series of events called the French National Championships featuring the very best French teams, so the action is incredible. But we always find it confusing... even though it actually isn't. So the “Championnat de France” (French National Championship) is the pinnacle of all French Leagues throughout France. All main Region in France run their Leagues, affiliated to the French Federation (FFP - Fédération Française de Paintball) and at the end of the season, the best Teams in each Division qualify for the “Championnat de France”. Something very cool happened in France recently, which impacted us not only as a business, but more importantly it impacted paintball as a sport. One of the young players on team RNPPC was awarded support from the Municipal Sport Department. Not only is this just a cool thing to happen to Julien (the player) but it's even cooler that they, as a body, recognised and rewarded someone within paintball. First of all, The Municipal Sport Department is in charge of all sports matters, so they're a pretty big deal and there is usually 1 Municipal Sport Department in each Hometown. This specific organisational structure consults, coordinates, supports and encourages sport within cities. Photo: © All In Media Do you have your own personal plan for keeping yourself on point so you’re always ready? I don’t have a planned program, but I do have a workout everyday. I got myself a routine of a 10 minute stretching/warmup, 30/40 min workout prep + workout, 5 min cool down. I have the chance to have a sport-center at work and can do my workout before lunch. I like to have a running  session once a week, but mostly based on speed/cardio and not long distance. I also do some street rollerblading every now and then during the week. What kind of drills do you do at home ? If you can. I have a stretching/mobility routine that includes all the positions I’m using when in a snake bunker (cake+beam let’s say). What a fantastic result! The French Championships are a very well respected series of events with some great teams competing for the prestigious honours. And the latest event was dominated by Eclipse teams... which is nice. Paris Camp Carnage managed to take 1st place spot in D1 (beating the Ton Tons yet again). Martigny Lions took top honours in D2, meaning they now qualify for D1 in 2019. And the RNPPC under 16s team, who all played with Etha2s took first place in their division. What can we say? Round 1 of the Millennium Series has been and gone, with Puget-Sur-Argens proving to be a great event for all who entered. The event was especially great for our boys at Edmonton Impact who won the CPL, after a 2013 season of impressive performances. But there was another story happening that also captured our attention. One that involved a 1 on 1 sideshow, a selection of ballers of all skill levels and a 14 year old called Ruben Van Maasacker. This event was ultimately won by Oliver Lang but the story here is how 14 year old Ruben played Ollie in the semi-final AND shot him in their best-of-3 match up. Thousands of webcast viewers and fellow ballers alike were rooting for Ruben as he shot his way to the semis, and at Planet Eclipse we like an underdog story.
