Black Karma @ Manstein’s Revenge

Our third game of the year returned us to the rolling hillsides of Southern Tennessee, near Fayetteville at Bearclaw Paintball.  This is truly our home away from home.  Not only do you get a great weekend of paintball, but you also get wonderful stories and memories at each team’s campsite.  We love showing everyone the splendor of our home field and love cooking cobbler (this time was Pineapple and Chocolate Cherry) for everyone, especially new faces..

“Manstein’s Revenge” was the name of this game for MPP Game’s Brothers in Arms series. Black Karma was pretty set in which team we were going to be on since our very own Chris “Cheap A$$” Mullins was a general for the Russians.  His motivational speech to the Russian team was the same as every pregame pep talk for our own team – “Don’t Suck”.  Of course Black Karma was volunteered to do some of the more challenging missions, not only because we love it, but also because our general and his wife “Rufus” wanted to enjoy kicking back in the base without a care in the world.  The game start mission was to hold 3 key positions along the center of the field – and what was great about these positions was that neither team had an advantage in getting there.  While walking (yes, I said walking because it was 95 degrees…) to our positions, we encountered little resistance.  The German side sent at least 25 people to push us out since we pushed into German territory.  Luckily we, with a little help from some friends,  were able to hold off multiple attempts to root us out earning us those precious points for our mission.

Later on in the day after taking a much needed hydration break, a group of us noticed German forces had retaken a strategic building on the field.  After corralling a few teams together we made a strong push to retake this area by flanking the enemy.  This flanking maneuver was a lot easier than normal due to the thick brush that has grown up during the spring.  Our HDE pants especially helped us keep a lower profile and helped keep the creepy crawling ticks off us.  After we stormed the building, the fighting was up close and intense.  The same guy bunkered two of us at the same time but he also had the favor returned by a teammate.  Both teams were toe to toe for the remainder of the day.

Day 2 brought much of the same action as the first day but the heat continued to claim victims and play a role in the game.  As the final battle drew near we had no idea what the score was, all we knew was there were two objectives to hold – the same two areas that had been giving both sides fits all weekend.  Luckily our general was with us during this time to really share in the fun.  The final seconds starting ticking away and time neared completion, another Black Karma usual quote was used yet again: “You want to do something stupid?”.  This is our own special audible, when we hear this we line up to do what we call “Rolling Thunder” – side by side we walk and let our markers do what they were designed to and lay down a serious amount of paint.  This is what we did until the game was over and we made massive progress into the opposition territory.

We ended this game with a win for the Russian and made a ton of new friends and caught up on good times with our fellow “brothers in arms”, regardless of which side they were on.  This is an awesome game and field because you always know what you will get at Bearclaw and with MPP – tons of stories and even more members of your paintball family. If you haven’t been to this field, give it a try – you will be sorry if you don’t.

As always, all of our equipment performed flawlessly and handled the heat and humidity better than any of us. We will be at the Fort McClellan MOUT Site in Anniston, Al for the Urban Scenario Productions “Burning Front: Taking Back Karbalah” game on June 30th & July 1st .  Stop by and say hi and feel free to try out some of our equipment or have us look at your kit if you are having any problems.

Once again we would like to Thank Planet Eclipse for giving us the opportunity to use great markers and gear. THANK YOU!!
