NXL World Cup 2017: Pre Event catch up with Edmonton Impact's Bart Yachimec

Image
Welcome to the second of our pre / post event interviews with a designated Eclipse Pro team. This series of posts is a two-part deal. A pre-event interview followed by a Post Event interview. Which is risky. A team can have all the enthusiasm and plans in the world leading into an event but if they get an ass whupping then the post-event interviews can be a little awkward. But we think it's good to see both sides of the coin. As the NXL World Cup grows closer it's a no-brainer as to who we should feature. Last year's Cup winners and the team everyone wants to beat, Edmonton Impact. We contacted Impact's owner and coach, Bart Yachimec (and his lovely wife Jo), and hit him with a fistful (or three) of questions, to find out a little more about where their heads are it as the game timer ticks down. We like the Impact boys so thought we'd try to get some insight into the stuff we don't see which we managed to do, so thanks for this Bart. Anyway, here we go.

NXL Chicago: Post Event chat with Carl 'Microwave' Markowski

Image
Prior to the NXL Chicago event we decided to grab some time with Chicago Aftershock's Carl Markowski to find out where he, and the team, where at mentally and collectively. They played good, but still didn't quite get the results they wanted. So we hit up Carl again for a post-event catch up to find out a little more about the before-and-after situation. Image © IM2 Studios Hey Carl, how are things man? So, Chicago. It didn’t go the way you guys had anticipated. But it wasn’t a total disaster though right? You started out strong, dishing out an 8-1 mercy win against Boom who have shown a lot of potential this year. How did it feel opening the event which such a big win? It felt great! The team played with confidence and poise, which we knew we had the capability of doing. We just needed that to fall over into the following games. 5.5 BPS? No problem!

Image
The 2018 NXL World Cup is almost here and it's lined up to be a pretty exciting event, but more on that in other posts. For now we wanna touch on the introduction of the 'Classic / Retro Division' this year that brings with it a BPS limit of 5.5. Our tech guys have put together for following information to help you bring your marker in-line with these regulations so that you can compete 'legally' and have some fun. The following will enable you to configure our latest markers to comply with the rules - Ego 10 to LV1.5 and Geo SL91 to CS1.5 currently meet the requirements of this format. In order to make them legal you simply: Select the SEMI 15 Preset (Alternatively Set the FIRE MODE to SEMI and the ROF CAP to ON) Set the BS ON ROF to 5.5bps Set the BS OFF ROF to 5.5bps Currently our older markers are deemed ILLEGAL, such as: Ego line - Ego9 and older models Geo line - Geo1 Gtek/160R Etek line Etha line So why are some markers illegal? OPL: Final Leg Results.

Image
http://www.playopl.com/   The final event of the season for the OPL was a wild one. In expectance of severe weather conditions, the commissioner posted a press released stating that "in the event of heavy rain, severe high winds or thunder and lightening, game play will cease immediately". Sunday afternoon after the preliminary matches finished, we were hit with winds reaching up to 90Km/h, and rain coming down hard. There was no way matches could continue. Luckily, after roughly 20mins of delay, the rain and wind slowed down to a playable condition. Despite the efforts from all the referees and staff, the field was soaked. It was impressive to see the willingness of the players to dive into puddles and continue playing while head to toe in water, paint and mud, yet still go home with a smile.  D3... After winning the 4th event, Rampage was taken down in a heated Semi-finals match with Attrition. These two teams have been rivals all year long, and it seemed l

#09 Say hi to the Ego's little brother: The Etek

Image
If you’ve been following this series of articles about Eclipse's 25 Year history then you'll know we've discussed the launch of the Ego in some detail. Following the success and lessons learned from such a launch it was followed up by another marker, but one that was a different proposition altogether. The Etek. If you've never heard of the Etek then (a) where have you been hiding for the past 10 years or so and (b) grab a comfy seat and settle in to a little bit of story-telling. Ledz and the SandBaggers taking the first Eteks out for a spin Etek. What is it? A little like a baby Ego without all the bells and whistles? I guess you could call it a baby brother but when we started and made the first Etek it would probably be best to call it baby Frankenstein. I guess I’d better explain that. As the Ego platform moved forward there were certain parts on the older Ego lines that were mothballed. But we had already done all of the development on those parts –

Portuguese Championship: The Final Leg

Image
Atlantic Games Beira-Mar was present for the 5th and last event of the Portuguese Championship. Mathematically we could still come out champions since our direct rival, Sporting, could theoretically have a bad day and end up 4th. That combined with a 1st place for us would make us 1st place overall for the season. We started with a win 5-1 against Beira-Mar Silver. Being the first game of the day we were able to understand the difference between this field and Algete's, Madrid. The second game against Estoril Praia was rather a quick one with the result of 4-0 in our favor. Next up were Salgueiros the game was a little bit rough with some penalties against us. With good game-plan and focus we held the game 2-4 until the time ran out. Probably the hardest game during the prelims, against Benfica, ended 3-2 for Beira-Mar. It was a very well disputed game, always toe-to-toe. With less than 60 secs on the clock and about to lose the tie-poin

EXPL Round 4: Spanish National League.

Image
On 9/10 th September Atlantic Games Beira-Mar Gold was yet again present in EXPL, the Spanish National League ready to put up a fight and increase the lead in the series standings. Saturday we started the weekend with a 3-man tournament. We faced ten teams competing for first place. Even though our players hadn't had any sleep due to the trip from Portugal to Madrid we were mainly focused on communication inside the pitch. If that went well, we knew we would be prepared for Sunday. In addition the games on Saturday would go a lot smoother if we relied on the basics instead of our physical performance. The tournament went by without anyone really noticing it since we were rotating between 5 players. We lost not a single match thus giving us the victory and the overall lead. Sunday was somewhat similar, with only 5 players playing the event, with the help of the silver team inside the pits we started strong against Old Kids. The win was a solid 4-0 which represents our good co
