2ND EVENT PORTUGUESE NATIONAL CHAMPINSHIP 19/20 TH May 2018 https://www.facebook.com/Beira-Mar-Paintball-Team-464070616999868/ The second event of the national championship was very important for us.  Beira Mar were currently in first place in Spain and we wanted the same result in Portugal as well ! The first game of the prelims with Benfica was a close match which could have ended up in a win . However, an insignificant mistake by itself snowballed into a grave drawback. Losing by 1 point with only 13 seconds of play, risked it and suffered a penalty, finishing the game 2-4. Benfica wins. After talking about the previous game we faced Nest Paintball. It all went as expected: we were able to win our fights and keep control, the result ended 5-1. Next up Estoril. The game was even more relaxed, maintaining calm and communication. We won 4-0 The semi finals against Sporting CP was of particular importance since they are the defending champions and a team...

Event #3 Spanish National Championship (EXPL)

Image
The third leg of the Spanish championship, EXPL, had to be played with a clean mindset, without thinking about our last performance.   https://www.facebook.com/EXPLPaintball/ Planet Eclipse managed to get us our CS2’s out just in time for the event. Without any bedding in time we had to trust they were as good as we had heard! The first match of prelims was played against the Old kids. The day could not have started more identical to that of the 2nd event. We started losing 0-3 with about 7 min of game time to be played. After a change of attitude, we pushed hard and took the win 4-3. The second match with King Paintball team was much better executed on our part. 5-1 final result. There are no easy games, as proved in the previous leg. Despite that we were confident on making a good result versus Chiclana Vulkan Green. 4-0 in 7 minutes. We took advantage of this game to test some moves on the field. The last game of the prelims with the Imperial Army was...

Spanish National Championship (EXPL)

Image
The start of the season is marked by the first round of the Spanish national championship, EXPL. Atlantic Games Beira-Mar, are the current title champions which makes us the team to beat. We prepare in the off-season with this mind-set, and as the athlete Nuno Lourenço "Bones" says –   "There are no facilitation for anyone, we have to work double to achieve what we want.”   In our case this is Wins. It's not always about winning, but marking a high-level paintball presence in consistency, the rest comes naturally. The first game was against Murcia Moda EF, a newcomer in this division with a lot of raw talent. It meant a confident 5-1 win in which there were some mistakes from our side but there were more from the opposing team. Next we faced Chiclana PB Vulcan Team, a team that is striving to be at the highest level in their country and increasingly gaining their place, was another 5-1 win for Atlantic Games Beira-Mar, where our game was m...

Beira Mar : The End.....

Image
... of a great season! It’s been a long season… After many tournaments throughout 2017, our final event draws upon us and Atlantic Beira-Mar prepares to end on the biggest high. Each year paintball in Portugal evolves, helping the sport rise and in turn growing our teams, and giving experience to the players and ourselves… Atlantic Games Beira-Mar. The last tournament of the series saw us undertake many battles for that day, with each one taken seriously meaning our teams game plans had to be on point. Our first game of the day against Insanity Paintball Team ended as a 2: 0 win, seeing 2 quick points on the board for what felt like a dominating Beira-Mar squad. The next game against Reloaded was slightly different, even having won 2-0, it was a hard fought challenge by both teams. Lisbon Heat was the third game of the preliminaries and was set to be the most difficult game yet… With experienced players and great technique the game was tied, but in t...

Beira-Mar :5th Event EXPL- Spanish National League

Image
For the 5th time this season, we, Beira-Mar Gold and Silver, drove 500 km east to Madrid, to fight on the 5th and final stage of the Spanish EXPL. We arrived at the field bright and early on Saturday, so that a few of us could play the usual 3vs3 tournament before Sunday. This allowed us to familiarize a little bit more with the layout. We won the 3-man and finished 1st in the overall season rankings. On Sunday, we were pretty confident in ourselves. We were currently in first place in the seasons ranking with a comfortably distanced from the second placed team. But this didn’t mean that we would slow our game. We tried to keep the same intensity we have been playing with all year. We played 4 matches on the prelims: The first, and the third (Salvajes and Woodpeckers), we played strong, and controlled during most of the entire game. We pulled out a 5-1 victory on both teams. The second and fourth games were disputed against Chiclana Paintball and Arca U.E Gan...

Portuguese Championship: The Final Leg

Image
Atlantic Games Beira-Mar was present for the 5th and last event of the Portuguese Championship. Mathematically we could still come out champions since our direct rival, Sporting, could theoretically have a bad day and end up 4th. That combined with a 1st place for us would make us 1st place overall for the season. We started with a win 5-1 against Beira-Mar Silver. Being the first game of the day we were able to understand the difference between this field and Algete's, Madrid. The second game against Estoril Praia was rather a quick one with the result of 4-0 in our favor. Next up were Salgueiros the game was a little bit rough with some penalties against us. With good game-plan and focus we held the game 2-4 until the time ran out. Probably the hardest game during the prelims, against Benfica, ended 3-2 for Beira-Mar. It was a very well disputed game, always toe-to-toe. With less than 60 secs on the clock and about to lose the tie-poin...

EXPL Round 4: Spanish National League.

Image
On 9/10 th September Atlantic Games Beira-Mar Gold was yet again present in EXPL, the Spanish National League ready to put up a fight and increase the lead in the series standings. Saturday we started the weekend with a 3-man tournament. We faced ten teams competing for first place. Even though our players hadn't had any sleep due to the trip from Portugal to Madrid we were mainly focused on communication inside the pitch. If that went well, we knew we would be prepared for Sunday. In addition the games on Saturday would go a lot smoother if we relied on the basics instead of our physical performance. The tournament went by without anyone really noticing it since we were rotating between 5 players. We lost not a single match thus giving us the victory and the overall lead. Sunday was somewhat similar, with only 5 players playing the event, with the help of the silver team inside the pits we started strong against Old Kids. The win was a solid 4-0 which represents our good co...

Beira-Mar Gold: RLA Event # 5 2017

Image
The weekend started in the worst possible way, with the death of our dear friend Sá. Being an extremely active person, who did a lot for National Paintball, very  hardworking, natural distributor, very positive attitude, a boyfriend for Eunice Pinto, a son, a brother, a cousin and friend of many ... But by the words of Javier, during the tribute paid to him at the event, "... He wish we were here to play and have fun ..." and by these parameters we played during the day of September 3, 2017. The first game, AFTER A noshow (2-0), was against Benfica B, a close match, in which the Atlantic Games Beira-Mar Gold, were not concentrating, uncertainties to play, lack of communication, but in the end we had to win and play as we played and took the win 2-1.  Then we would play with the Amarelos, a very competitive team full of talent, they wanted to play their best, and so did we. A difficult 2-1 win. For the last game of the preliminaries, we would p...

Beira Mar At It Again: Portuguese National Championship - Event #4

Image
We are already in the fourth round of the National Championship with 3 second places already the desire for the win in the team Atlantic Games Beira-Mar Gold was strong. But that desire turned into pressure quickly as we lost the lead in the first game against Atlantic Games Beira-Mar Silver, our sister team. We made mistakes from the beginning and the game ended in a defeat by 3: 4.  We needed to correct what was wrong so we did a self-evaluation made some adjustments. In the second game against the Salgueiros Huargo we were more dominant and we took a 3 points advantage but we relaxed and our opponent tied the game 3 - 3. Over-time was the turning point, and we were victorious, we controlled and we made G1 very fast,  advanced and finished the game. It was the first victory of the day, not as we intended. The next game against Sport Lisboa Benfica, a difficult test, we needed to win if we wanted any chance of moving on to the semi-finals. We had an aggre...

Beira Mar Just Keep Winning

Image
4th   Event RLA- Regional Lisbon Adrenalicia 2017 It was another great day of paintball in which the Atlantic Games Beira-Mar Gold team were prepared... In the preliminaries against Reloaded we took a victory with a score of 2-0. Second game also saw us taking a 2-0 win. Our next 2 prelim games were to be no different, facing both C4-RTU B and Insanity Paintball Team we secured the exact same results as before with two 2-0 victories. Heading into the finals saw us take on a more experienced team - Lisbon Heat. The game was more challenging, with us having to pull out different strategies which worked in our favour, securing a 2-0. The very last game was no different, we stuck to our guns and finished with another win against the Blue Falcon Squadron, also 2-0 and giving us first place at the event and putting us at the top of the seasons leader board. It was a fantastic achievement by the team not to drop a single point, we impose this typ...
