In November, we attended one of our favorite games of the year, Game of Thrones 4 produced by Millennium Paintball Productions.   The producer, Ben Torricelli, takes great care into making sure the game will be great event for all that attend between the elaborate missions and one-on-one tournament where players fight for a sword.   This year’s installment placed the Tyrell House against the Freemen House.   Our task at game on was to hold off a force of 200 with only 30 defending.   Eventually after attrition took its toll, we helped push towards our base and stretch to our favorite spot on the field, the schoolhouse (Frostfang for this event).   The speedball missions were fun as well in western town (Giant’s Pass). This year we had a few new pieces of equipment in attendance: Planet Eclipse’s CS1 and the Gtek.   Both of them made me giggle with anticipation and excitement after shooting them.   I cannot say enough about how smooth both ...

Upon the completion of our first scenario game of the season, a few of our members started looking into local events that were between our scheduled games for the 2015 season.   With a little bit of research, a few guys decided to venture away from what we know and love about woods ball and attempt to play in a speedball tournament.   For myself, it was the first time seeing these inflatable objects that many call “bunkers.”   After arriving at the field and walking the layout, we quickly realized that we would be in for a learning experience.  The next morning, we were second on the field after our team captains meeting. We threw on our custom jerseys and realized that the HDE camouflage pattern that helps us blend into the woods wouldn’t help us much on the speedball field. Our annual pilgrimage to our home field's premier event of the year had us all waiting as a child does for Christmas morning. Add to this anticipation of merriment and fellowship, a welcoming twinge of pride as one of our members brings in the newly christened Black Karma trebuche - of which excitement flew almost as high as a boot that was tossed from this ancient weapon replica. MPP Games in collaboration with Bearclaw Paintball pitted the Lannisters against the Batherons in the Game of Thrones Series. All "Houses" are involved in a multi-year tournament for rule of the land and this year Black Karma supported the house of Lannister. This year Planet Eclipse sent Kris Wilson, one of their Pro Techs, just in case anyone had issues with their kit. Not only was he an awesome tech, but also a wonderful friend. We eagerly await the gunshot that begins the game.   Heart rates are soaring. Sweat dripping down our tautly drawn faces. Blood racing through our veins as we stand at the ready.   Trying to visualize a plan, the taped off areas look inviting because it would be so much faster to just run through there.   But we know we would “drown” without a boat. The shot finally rings through the woods, and we take off across the bridge to hold our positions to keep the Germans from advancing across the Rhine River.   If we are shot, we must walk the long distance to Eindhoven unless we recapture our base at Antwerp.   For thirty minutes, we hold off the advancing force until we have to make that walk.
