Lords of the O-Rings 🙄

Image
Ok terrible pun, we couldn't resist, but in these crazy times many of you are dusting off the hex keys, actually opening the spares baggy and in some (rare) cases, reading the manuals we create. Unbelievable right? Well, we've another tech support treat for you; we're currently developing our own Planet Eclipse O-Ring Finder App. It isn't finished yet but we've decided to release it to a limited number of 'first come, first served' Beta testers. Which can be any of you! Getting the App isn't super-simple at the moment, due to its Beta Test status, but if you want to get involved while you have the time and inclination then follow the instructions below. Please note: The O-Ring App is only available for Apple devices running iOS13 at the moment. Getting Started: 1 - Make sure your device is running iOS13 2 - Install TestFlight (Beta Test app) from the App Store to allow you to Beta Test: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/testflight/id899247664...

The End of Eclipse Splashes?

Image
Splash Anodising… You could almost say it’s in our blood. A LONG time ago we started having some of the most famous splash colour ways done to a variety of Eclipse Custom markers. We're not talking about EGOs or GEOs at this point, way before that. Cockers, Automags, Shockers, Angels, Spyders, Impulses... the list is pretty long. Some of those splash names and colour combos are still loved and coveted today, such as Banzai Green, Fire, Ice, Speedy Blue and Electric Skies to name a few. An early Eclipse Fire Splash AutoMag Unfortunately for us, the company who created our splash designs back in the day (we're talking about early 90’s) stopped doing the custom splash anodising many years ago so the art of getting it done and done right in the UK lay dormant, until we found someone else to start up the classic colour ways again. This was exciting, so as well as our much-loved classic splash designs we decided to create a few future classics too such as Shock Splash, Riddle ...

Lego Paintball Trading Card.

Image
It wasn’t long ago that everyone’s efforts focused on getting Paintball onto TV. Some would say we failed but if you mention Paintball to the public these days 95% of people will know what Paintball is. Most probably have the wrong impression, but that’s a conversation for another day. So to give us all a little smile and a well needed win here is something my 4 year old son is collecting. The fact that Lego have made a Lego character and now a Paintball Lego trading card I’d say you can almost call us mainstream :-) Got to love the name they came up with for the player ‘Canvas’ Who on your paintball team would you call ‘Canvas’ ???

Event #3 Spanish National Championship (EXPL)

Image
The third leg of the Spanish championship, EXPL, had to be played with a clean mindset, without thinking about our last performance.   https://www.facebook.com/EXPLPaintball/ Planet Eclipse managed to get us our CS2’s out just in time for the event. Without any bedding in time we had to trust they were as good as we had heard! The first match of prelims was played against the Old kids. The day could not have started more identical to that of the 2nd event. We started losing 0-3 with about 7 min of game time to be played. After a change of attitude, we pushed hard and took the win 4-3. The second match with King Paintball team was much better executed on our part. 5-1 final result. There are no easy games, as proved in the previous leg. Despite that we were confident on making a good result versus Chiclana Vulkan Green. 4-0 in 7 minutes. We took advantage of this game to test some moves on the field. The last game of the prelims with the Imperial Army was...

EPS 2018 (Malaysia)

Image
Our Eclipse Paintball Series, kindly sponsored and supported by Planet Eclipse is cheerfully known as the EPS 2018 Series and begins in early March. This is normally because of the festivities associated with Chinese New Year in February. Our opening season’s event which had nearly 30 teams across 3 divisions, Open, Amateur and Novice playing a Race format to 3 points and 2 points, had most teams looking forward to a great paintball tournament and thats’ what they got. Paintball in Malaysia was in the doldrums with the onset of paintball markers licensing since the end 2013 but we have now started to rise from the depths to the see the light at the end of the tunnel. For our 1st leg of EPS 2018, we have players and teams from Indonesia - Medan Smokers, Brunei - Leakside Jokers and players from Singapore and Thailand as well trying it out with the local teams. The local Eclipse sponsored top teams, Nemesis Legion, Raskal, Mambang DiAwan (2017 Amateur Division Overall Cha...

Liberty Flames take the 2018 NCPA Title

Image
College paintball. Yep, it really, genuinely, 100% is a thing. And it's a great thing too! It isn't at the level of the more mainstream sports but we do know there are actual airball fields and facilities on campus at some participating colleges. Which is pretty damn awesome. And where better to spread the gospel of paintball than at youth level. In a controlled environment, surrounded by your college buddies where it's supported and encouraged by the college sports programmes. The UK (and maybe other countries too) run a tournament event called the CPPS Student Cup which involves a number of teams, supported by and endorsed by their respective Colleges and Universities. They all rock up and duke it out for bragging rights for one weekend in the CPPS calendar. But could this be more? We think it should be, to grow a more passionate following and help educate more about the joys and benefits of paintball. Which brings us to the point of this article, and to the NCP...

Spanish National Championship (EXPL)

Image
The start of the season is marked by the first round of the Spanish national championship, EXPL. Atlantic Games Beira-Mar, are the current title champions which makes us the team to beat. We prepare in the off-season with this mind-set, and as the athlete Nuno Lourenço "Bones" says –   "There are no facilitation for anyone, we have to work double to achieve what we want.”   In our case this is Wins. It's not always about winning, but marking a high-level paintball presence in consistency, the rest comes naturally. The first game was against Murcia Moda EF, a newcomer in this division with a lot of raw talent. It meant a confident 5-1 win in which there were some mistakes from our side but there were more from the opposing team. Next we faced Chiclana PB Vulcan Team, a team that is striving to be at the highest level in their country and increasingly gaining their place, was another 5-1 win for Atlantic Games Beira-Mar, where our game was m...

PTW !

Image
Painting the World, One Kid at a Time Painting the world is an organization founded in 2016 by Luis Leon. This organization is dedicated to the growth of paintball, helping others, spreading the word about our sport, and bringing in the next generation of players. The Beginnings: Luis Leon founder and CEO started PTW in February of 2016. Mr. Luis Leon went to his local field and spoke to some of the children that were there that day. He met a kid, a kid with a desire to play but his family couldn’t afford to buy him gear or to take him to the field constantly. That night Leon went home and look thru his Facebook list of friends and asked for help. The first person to help him, Michael Bane with Rotten Kids, sent a few markers and hoppers as a donation. When Leon saw that the Paintball community was willing to help he officially started what is known today as Painting the World, One Kid at a Time. He launched a Painting the World, One Kid at a Time Facebook page on March ...

Techs on Tour: CBX by PJ.

Image
As the Paintball season comes to a close. I gather my Tech gear and set off for my last event of the year. In my sights , Sao Paolo , Brasil. Largest city in South America and the Southern Hemisphere by populous. And also the largest Portuguese speaking city in the world. After a brief conversation with Receita Federal (Brasilian Customs). I made my way to Atibaia Paintball Arena about an hour outside the city. Upon arrival I meet with Julio Cesar Lima (Atibaia PB) and Rodrigo Araujo (CBX Organizer) to get a  taste of the local nectar "Banana Cachaca" and a  tour of the field and the modifications in the last stages. Atibaia PB has a Scenario field , Tactical field , and a Airball field. My eyes shined "Lime Green" as I  gazed in amazement at a brand new "Planet Eclipse Ultimate Airball Field".. Hugging the field was the custom Field Wrap Banner with CBX and Planet Eclipse proudly stamped and beautifully matching.  I was truly in Paintball Heaven and ...
