Gmek is coming!

Image
It's all starting to get a bit real at Planet Eclipse HQ as the Gmek momentum is starting to pick up pace. For those who don't know what we're taking about, here's a quick recap. Jack and the crew have been working on a side project for a while, to design a mechanical frame to fit the Gtek, which has turned out to be pretty cool and has performed really well. So rather than just release it we decided to release info about it on our Facebook Live series called the Core, to ask the paintball community if this was something they actually wanted. Which thankfully they (you) did. So the project was green lit. Two days ago – and minutes before we did our 50cal Core presentation – the latest version of the Gmek frame arrived, so we added it to the end of the Core. Unfortunately we had some technical issues and the Core content could only be viewed by those who watched live and it can't be viewed in full on catchup. So we've taken a fistful of Gmek frame pics fo...

#02 A third in the hand is worth more in Holmbush

This is the second post where we delve into the brain archives of the big cheeses at Planet Eclipse as they tell us about their favourite memories from the last 25 years as a paintball company. To some, a 3rd place medal is a sign of failure, or a symbol of not quite being good enough but not this one, this was so much more than 'just a medal'. Why? Well, pull up a chair and we'll tell you. The medal pictured below (in an amazingly cheap wallet, but pretty sweet at the time) is pretty obvious. It's actually written on it, well, on the plaque anyway. We won this at the Mayhem Masters (Europe's biggest paintball event) in 1993 with our up-and-coming team, the Banzai Bandits. Some of you may not know this, but we're based 'Up North' (the North of England) and most of the best teams that have been around in the UK for years have been based 'Down South'. There had always been a very big North/South divide in terms of attitu...

#01 - It started with a quid.

Image
Planet Eclipse celebrates 25 Years In The Game, so we thought we'd share 25 key moments from those 25 years with you guys. Right here. On our blog. We managed to get the main men together and agree on a list of the 25 moments that we all agree stuck in our minds throughout our amazing 25 year journey. So each month we'll post a little story or two that will give you an insight into what we like and where we've actually been as a company, as paintballers and as people. So, strap yourselves in for #01. We thought we'd start our series of posts right at the very beginning. With our very first customer and our very first quid (fyi - a quid is one English pound in currency). The company was called Paintball Planet back then and we had a little shop on Deansgate Road in Manchester, UK. At the time (1991) paintball was full of weird and wonderful characters and I swear the shop saw all of them come through the doors. The shop was small and we tried to cram as much aweso...

CFOA ... Round 2

Image
The second stop for the CFOA tournament series landed us back in Rock Hill, SC for the Carolina Classic. After a successful first event, teams were ready to get back on the grind and chase the podium. The weather leading up to the event was nothing short of perfect, until Saturday, of course. Wind gusts all day long added an additional challenge to the already tough competition. Rain, wind, or shine the event went on! We saw some familiar faces as well as some surprises on the podium at the end of the 3man event on Saturday. The Carolina Cobras, from Greensboro, NC had back to back wins in the D5 division. Falling just short of the gold, but a second trip to the podium was Fluid with a very strong event. Third place was awarded to The Wreckers with their first podium appearance in d5! In D6, our division for first time tournament players, we saw some fantastic paintball out of these new players that were hungry for the hardware. After hours crew, a long time progra...

“I personally would like to congratulate Liberty University on their 3 rd place finish. We have been working with them for over 6 years....! Year after year LU have stayed dedicated and committed to using Planet Eclipse markers. College teams have players changing every year due to graduation and freshman coming in. For LU to keep a competitive team going  for so long and the captains making sure all players are using the right equipment is just amazing. We appreciate the support and congratulations once again on the 3 rd place finish!” says Marc Lancia   Check out the LU Club Sports News below: CLICK THE LINK TO READ MORE: http://www.liberty.edu/campusrec/clubsports/index.cfm?PID=25954&newsID=1505&TeamID= From everyone at Planet Eclipse... INTO THE FRAY… As the weather finally turned away from the boiling heat of summer, we again are at our home field in the lush forests of Southern Tennessee, near Fayetteville, at Bearclaw Paintball.  It is truly a wondrous sight when you pull into the meadow that showcases the beach landing area and the edge of the game field.  One thing we all notice this time is two huge funeral pyres just waiting to be lit, and we know this will be another great game. “Game of Thrones” is the name of the new annual series from the evil genius of MPP’s Ben & Bonnie Torricelli.  Each team works for points based on missions that are handed out at intervals throughout the day, objectives controlled during a beach landing, or keeping the other team from areas of the field.  Once again the fine folks from the University of Tennessee’s Paintball Team make sure everyone is safe. Early on when we heard the initial idea of the series, we quickly agreed to be one of t...
