NYCE

MAPL Event series 2-

As the sun ascended Sunday morning and players prepared for the day’s events, comradery within the team was already running high. Some teammates already having spent the previous seventy-two hours together, there was certainly a positive aura present.

The team knew Sunday was going to be an exciting day. The weather was cooperative, bright and sunny most of the day with a slight rain cloud in the afternoon. A ten minute span of grey skies provided a nice break from the sun, and a shower to wash away the days sweat.

NYCE started the morning off with a bang, locking in win after win. From the breakouts to the buzzer, NYCE was running like a well-oiled machine. Unfortunately, a major blow was suffered as Chris Stubbe injured his leg in the preliminaries and was unable to finish out the day. The remaining five players progressed and as teams sank into their grooves, so did NYCE. Becoming very comfortable with the layout and utilizing strong communication skills, the group was easily being seen as a threat by opposing teams.

NYCE maintained a level ground between patience and aggression as the time between rounds grew longer and longer. Squeezing thirty-eighty teams onto two fields is no easy feat but was well accomplished by the staff at Mapl/Gpl.

By mid-afternoon the prelims had started to wind down. NYCE had to tighten some slack, taking to the final round of the prelims with a couple of teams to secure a progression to the next bracket. And they did so without fail.

The first crew NYCE would meet in the quarter-finals was Team All-In. They would once again see a third match as NYCE won once and All-In won once. Taking the final win against team All-In, NYCE progressed to the semi finals to meet Batavia Smoke.

NYCE would win the first match but their day would regretfully end due to the aggression of Batavia Smoke. Leaving team NYCE in sixth place over all for event two at Mapl/Gpl. We would like to thank all our sponsors and especially Marc Lancia and Planet Eclipse for their continued support.
