The Rebels Part 2.

Rebels Part 2 – conquering Bitburg

The season has started everywhere else, but not in Norway so Rebels went to Trolle to play at Paintball-SM, the Swedish series. They advanced to the swedish CPL last year so this was their first shot at the big guys in Sweden. Here they could meet teams like Joy Division, MASH, Ignition and Blast. The tournament was a great one in weather and games, but by meeting MASH, Solid and Devils from Mash, it was not Rebels day. They took some good points in the 4-3 game against Devils from Mash, but it was not enough to go through.

Even though the results didnt go their way, the team felt that this fieldlayout would suit their style of play with a few adjustments.

This time they couldn’t make the practice hours in Millennium, but they still felt well prepared from the weekend in SM.

The field looked really good and the real grass made playing on it great. We are not used to that anymore, often it’s thin turf and knee injuries :-(

Friday afternoon, what a great time to start a tournament. They started off against London Tigers 2 and got 3 points thrown in their face – time to wake up! And they did. With 5 minutes left on the clock they decided that this was not the way this tournament should be and fought back hard ending with a 4-3 win with 8 seconds to spare. That’s more like it.

Second game was against Rain of Fire and the edge, from the end of the Tigers game, was still there, a good 4-1 win.

Saturday afternoon, no im not kidding, 2 times in a row being able to rest out in the morning does wonders. The temperature was more like Norway at summer , cloudy, still sunny and a slight breeze, great paintball weather. This time they had learned from Puget and would not let anything else than their playing decide if they were going to Sunday-club. Freilos was up, a tight game even if the score said 4-0 to Rebels.

With that score they won their group and proceed to the last 16 of Sunday club.

Sunday, as usual you can feel the tension and the excitement in the air, it’s the win or go home day and everyone knows it way to well. Rebels were in good spirits, nervous of course, but still high on the winnings from the last two days.

First up was Freilos, Rebels knew how they played from the day before so they ended 4-0 again.

Quarter finals, every tournament seems to have one game, the one game that is chaotic, unpredictable and crazy. And this was the game. Rebels vs Indevence. Rebels was up 2-0 and then the penalties started flying on both sides of the 50. It was now 2-3 in Indevence favor with only about a minute left on the clock. In that minute Rebels equalized to 3-3 and got their chance in overtime. And they grabbed that chance with both hands! They controlled the game and won 4-3 with 5 alive.

Semi-final, Lucky 15 is up, Rebels rush from the last game made them a bit hung-over and they got shot out of their bunkers. Lucky 15 plays a better game and wins 4-1. Lucky 15 ends up winning the whole tournament. Déjà vu from Puget anyone?

Bronze medal match. Their last game of the tournament, and the most important one at the time and its against PBS91. This time the control was back, the focus was sharp, Rebels won a comfortable 3-1

Congratulations to the team with 3rd place in SPL2 on their second Millennium in the divison!
