Kuching Paintball Open – KPO, was held in conjunction with Proshar and Planet Eclipse sponsored EPS 4th Leg Finale. KPO was organized by Kelab Paintball Mambong, Kuching – KPM and co-presented by Raskal Sports.  The event, now in its 5th season, saw a regional record-breaking participation of 68 teams. What was meant to be just another leg of a local tournament series turned out to be an international event with participating teams from Australia, Brunei and players from Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. At this year’s Paintfest I sat in the bar the night before it all started with Ainsley, Owner of Lucky 15’s Elite Paintball team, and we got talking to a few guys from team South Coast Reapers about all things Paintball and one of the things that we took note of was how they, as a young inexperienced team, struggle to work out any game plans when they play the CPPS airball tournaments.  So I asked if Planet Eclipse sponsored team Lucky 15’s could help in some way. Luck is important. But a good plan is essential. The Lucky 15’s are the best current team in the UK. I don’t think anyone will argue with that statement. They have done it all themselves, learnt on the job, trained hard and honed their skills to be where they are today. They have a huge talent base of young hungry players with a few experienced players guiding the missiles. On Sunday, May 26, 2019, Baltimore Paintball League hosted their Mid-Season Mayhem Tournament, which Wanna-Play’s Factory Team signed up for. The WPP Factory Team has been around for many years, stemming into the early 2000’s, but for this particular event we had 4 fresh players with little to no tournament experience on our line. The guys were pretty excited to play and they got some looks as they geared up, since we are usually known as “the team in camo”, so they must be woodball players, right?!?! …WRONG!!! Our guys practiced and worked hard all spring, practicing drills and plays, not only finessing their individual game, but their game as a team. It was now their time to see how they handled the pressure and to put all their time well spent to the test. As it typically goes, we were one of the first games of the day. July 6th 2019 was the date for the second annual Yarra Classic to be held at the Action Paintball Games Yarramundi paintball park in Sydneys, north west! The event is run using the tried and tested old school cool 10 man centre flag format from Tim Montressor of mechanical markers and electronic markers capped at 6bps semi auto (yes we know it is supposed to be 5.5bps, but a couple of the players had old Angels that would not turn down to lower than 6bps so in the interest of old is cool we upped the BPS by half a ball per second) and again, as was the case last year, the event was booked out 8 weeks in advance. Teams were made up of players from Queensland and all over New South Wales. Teams would play a selection of games on the newly rebuilt Trenches and Australia’s only Proper Hyperball battlefields with the finals to be played out on the Hyperball field only. On Saturday 7th July the Lionesses arrived pumped for CPPS R3.  Due to holidays and injuries we were a couple of players short and so drafted in Matt Howel and Harrison Coley to join us. We really appreciated this as it gave the four girls we did have the opportunity to still field a team on Saturday. We took two early wins followed by two close losses, in the past, losing consecutively like that may have gone to our heads, however we stepped up our game, reassessed our plays and were able to take the next 8 wins on the bounce. This left us with 10 wins to 2 losses all day.  We believed that we had come in 2nd place to One41 due to a mix up in some of the other teams scores, so it was a pleasant surprise to end up at the top of the podium at the end of the day!  We had three of the Ladies GB squad playing on Saturday and we are so excited with how this squad is developing together.
